3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Hopistotle420 (1178) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 7, 2003Deep cloudy orange hue. All ginger in the nose. Small quickly dissipating light beige head. Light bodied, a bit spicy, no real depth, just a pleasant, easy-drinking ginger flavored beer. A tad pricey, but worth a try at least once!

Handpulled cask at JDW Ruislip Mannorduring recent international beer fest. Golden brown with poor white head. Wheaty with citric twang. Gentle malt and hops with a final hint of ginger. OK.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MesandSim (7118) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 22, 2008
A Mes rate: Cask at Baker St ’Sporks. Golden brown with a reasonable white head. Very citric and wheaty aroma with some hints of malt underneath. Lemony and wheaty flavour with slight malt and hops and the kick of ginger and pepper on the finish really makes it. The ginger lingers for some time. Very quaffable and drinks a little below its strength. Decent.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 harrisoni (10911) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2008
Cask conditioned handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Cloudy orange gold colour with thin beige head. Soft ginger aroma, but in mouth, it’s a lot spicier, not really root ginger, very spicy ginger, not really very attractive. Shame as I like Freeminer beers. Bit of plastic on finish. It’s fine, but the thought of a 2nd pint would drive me from the pub, good thing the Tokyo Black was on too. As I say, fine, just not for me.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 cgarvieuk (11024) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 10, 2008
Cask at JDW ... Hazy orange brown ... light ginger nose ... Smooth sweet lots fo ginger ... little ginger bitterness ... but no real complexity... gassy but not fizzy.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DruncanVeasey (6116) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2008
Knickersby ’Spoons, with a cloudiness warning. God bless ’em. Dark foggy amber collared with white. Obvious spicing wthout the heat. Mulled and soapy aroma with more brazen ginger. Some retronasal alcohol and acid burn. Not overwhelmed by the ginger, but drinks like an unpicy ginger beer. Not unpleasant, but pointless. Give me a can of the n/a Jamaican stuff over this any day of the week...
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maeib (7557) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2008
Cask conditioned - handpump - JDW Northampton. A hazy copper coloured beer (I was warned it was cloudy - don’t you love that!!) with a white head. The aroma is light ginger with some yeasty hints and a little lemon. More light citrus and light ginger in the taste. Subtle and tasty. Nothing like the Beartown I had earlier in the day.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 berkshirejohn (3648) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2008
Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Cloudy gold with a trace of white head; a slight hint of ginger on the nose; rather thin, tasing of ginger and sweet malts; some slight bitterness to finish with warmth and spice from the ginger. Unusual, but forgetable.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 hughie (3994) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2008
Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford, in the Wetherspoons Real Ale Festival. Orange gold, slightly hazy with a small white head. A bit warm. Strong ginger aroma. If that had been all the taste consisted of, I might have hacked this, however a strong, medicinal reek of cough candy made me pour this down the disabled toilet.
