COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark harbinger of La Muerta, signaling its imminent unfurling at the tap. Black with notes of roasted coffee, warm campfire smokiness, dark fruit and subtle spice - the 4Shadow forebodes an even darker future for the wary denizens of Freetail.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2009 A unique concoction. Billed as a "Belgian Smoked Stout" by my bartender. Appearance is black with a thick, creamy white head. Aroma is definitely of smoke with spicey phenolics - I assume from the use of a Belgian yeast strain. Flavor is smoke, but not overpoweringly so with chocolate and coffee. An acquired taste to be sure - but an interesting and tasty brew.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this growler. Always excited to try a new beer from Freetail. The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt and smoke. The smoke is not dominant, but it compliments the other flavors very nicely. The smoke is more prominent in the flavor. Other than the smoke, I get a lot of chocolate and roasted malt. The smoke is not harsh, but is definitely the focus of the beer. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
