American Wild Ale.
Rarely released in its purest form, Ananke is the backbone of our wild ale program, a base beer used for blending and fruit infusion. Named for the ancient Greek Goddess of inevitability and personification of destiny, necessity & fate, Ananke helps bring order to an otherwise chaotic universe. Such as her namesake, this delicately sour ale’s presence is felt throughout all of our barrel-aged beers. Ingredients: Pilsen & acidulated malts; raw wheat; flaked rye; Perle hops; top-fermenting yeast; wild yeast & bacteria; natural, limestone-filtered, Edwards Aquifer H2O; love

Bottle shared by Dreadnaught33. Thanks Jonathan! This is my second time enjoying this beer. The beer is a hazy, golden straw hue with a small ring of pure white head. The aroma brings funk, lemon, white wine, hay, sweet tarts. Sour with some tangy citrus notes. A touch of oak with some nice brett presence. Light to medium in body with a puckering finish. Pretty tasty.

A - pours clear orangy honey with no head. S - the nose is buttery chardonay, white grape juice, nice funk, salt, honey, vinegar, grass, straw. M - light medium body with zero carb. Full palate with a dry acetic end. T - this is a very nice stone fruity, pineapple juice an citrus start, then taste follow the nose to a T, but with some salt, floral notes and a stronger acetic end. balanced some acidic lemon. I actually liked this better than the raspberry ananke and the kriek.

Bottle thanks to Joe. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a great funky barnyard note that is supported by sour light fruits and a bit of wine in the finish. Flavor has more much acid coming through with a bit light fruit tartness, earthy funk and a dry wine finish.

Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a finger of fizzy foam. The nose is bright tart lemon, fruity wheat, vinous chardonnay and some funky basement must. The palate is bright and acidic lacto with tons of dusty lemon, a round cereal malt backbone and some nice barrel complexities of vanilla, toasted oak and some citrus pith and sweet tarts poking through as well.

Bottle, shared by Greg (thanks!). Ananke and Raspberry ananke tasted side-by-side. From rough notes.

Ananke - pours gold, hazy; light body, soft carb; sour, musty, cereal grains. Nod goes to raspberry here, but definitely nice.

Raspberry - pours an attractive red-pink; huge fruity raspberry nose, smells like candy (cotton candy meets jolly rancher). Some cherry as well. Very nice.

GABF 2013. Cloudy, light-yellow straw color. Nice funky nose, some white wine on the nose. Crisp, clean, and refreshing sour if not all that complex with nice tartness.
