Commercial Description:
The unexpected visitor, the inquisitor, intruding on the quiet of mundane life. The love child of the hoppy stouts of the Northwest US and the fanciful fermentations of Belgian farmhouse brewers—Interloper Stout is the best of both worlds. Rich, chocolatey coffee combined with ethereal fruits of the forest and backed by big citrus bitterness and floral notes, this full-bodied ale will keep you up late nights, dreaming of its return. OG: 1.065/15.8 P FG: 1.017/4.4 P ABV: 6.2% ABW: 4.9% IBU: 55 Hops: Warrior, Palisade, Tettnanger

Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours black with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt malt and roasted coffee. Medium to full body with flavors of black coffee, roasted malt and a bit of chocolate. The finish is moderately bitter coffee and hops and the bitterness lingers for awhile. Decent Stout overall.

At the brewpub. The look is a black color with a tan head. The smell is roasty, malts, coffee, maybe some hops. The taste is malts, roast, coffee, and ok. Not bad.

Draft at the brewery, then from a growler the next day. Black with a dark tan head. Aroma is pleasant roasty coffee-like malt and lightly nutty. Lots of rich roasty coffee flavor accompanied by malt with a little dark fruit character to it. A good balance of noble hop character, as well. A pleasant and interesting stout with nice balance to boot.
