COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
9.1% ABV, 50 IBU A growing South Texas tradition, La Muerta is brewed each year for Día de los Muertos in honor of our departed friends and family. A big, lush Imperial Stout, La Muerta is full of roast, smoke and chocolate flavors from an array of specialty malts that go into this garnetblack ale. If you are holding this bottle, it means either you (or someone you know with a kind heart) boldly stood in line for hours on the first Saturday of November. Karma rewards those who give selflessly, so share with your closest compadres or a new friend. La Muerta will age wonderfully for years to come – we recommend enjoying one now and save some for the future, if you can. ¡Salud!

On tap at freetail. Served way too cold. Once it warmed up, it shows a nice smoky and coffee flavor. Black/Garnet red with no head and little lacing. A bit boozy and slightly sweet. Decent bitterness and a good mouth feel. This is a solid imperial stout. Closest comparison would be yeti from great divide.

Bomber from Bu11zeye. Pours dark brown/black with no head. Aroma seems smoke, very. Full bodied or nearly. Flavor is smoke, ash dark malt, and some pepperiness. Getting a little chocolate. Really outstanding.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours near black with no head and a smoky dark malt aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt and chocolate flavor with a slightly hot pepper finish.

Bottle in Breckenridge with my dad. Pour is pitch black with a fluffy brown head and great lacing. Big smoke, meat drippings, cocoa, light coffee, marshmallows, and graham crackers in the aroma. Taste is smoky, dark chocolate dipped marshmallows, graham crackers, espresso, earthy hops, and grass with a toasted bitterness on the backend. Think mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Nice stout.

Pours a nice dark black color, a little thin on the viscosity scale. Chocolate, roasted malt are mainly present on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a hint of burnt nuts, probably the smoke they talk about.

Bomber shared by Brandon - thanks! Dense brown pour with a small soapy head. Aroma of peppers and smoke. Medium palate. A bit of peppers on taste, plus some chocolate. Yummy.

Bottle: Bottle is an incredible gusher with two-third of the bottle ending in the sink. Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of chocolate malt with light dry roasted malt is intriguing. Taste is an interesting mix of black chocolate malt with some light dry roasted malt with light residual sugar notes. Some small traces of smoke can also be detected. Body is lighter than expected and carbonation was exceptionally strong when I opened the bottle but died quite quickly. Interesting beers but texture and level of carbonation was definitely off in this bottle.
