(Draught) Pours a clear rose body with a small pinkish white head. Aroma of prickly pear, florals, grain. Flavor of prickly pear, sweet pickles, and some sourness.

Draft, first beer of the weekend .. . Pours a ruby plum .. light foam .. light pepper skin, plum, pear, apple, prickly pear, and more pepper .. . super tart .. light to medium carbonation .. . way to much pepper to be truly enjoyable.. . . Evil old woman considered frightful or crazy, 18 down.

Old rating, sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy pinkish red with a pinkish white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of an earthy fruit note with a bit of tartness and a bit of grains backing. Flavor also had a lot of prickly pear with a hint of tartness backing backing bread notes. Prickly pear didn’t really work for me.

On tap at the brewpub shortly after the La Muerta bottle release. Like all of the Freetail prickly pear beers, this one pours a pinkish red color with a small white head. A very odd looking beer. The aroma is heavy on the prickly pear with some light tartness mixed in. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of pickled cactus notes, as well as a little bit of sweetness from the cactus and some tartness from the base beer. The fruit makes the tartness more subdued than in regular Ate’, which I think makes this beer not as enjoyable. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. Overall, this beer is just weird, but I am glad I got to try it.
