COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rarely released in its purest form, Ananke is the backbone of our wild ale program, a base beer used for blending and fruit infusion. Named for the ancient Greek Goddess of inevitability and personification of destiny, necessity & fate, Ananke helps bring order to an otherwise chaotic universe. Such as her namesake, this delicately sour ale’s presence is felt throughout all of our barrel-aged beers. We present to you this batch, with raspberries added in the secondary tank. Stin ijiasas! Ingredients: Pilsen & acidulated malts; raw wheat; flaked rye; Perle hops; top-fermenting yeast; wild yeast & bacteria; natural, limestone-filtered, Edwards Aquifer H2O; raspberries; love

Pour out of bottle, slightly hazy reddish pour with thin pinkish head, aroma brought juicy raspberries with the seeds, slight lemon, oak, hints of vanilla, biscuit in there to balance, slight funky notes as well. Taste had a mix of sweet raspberry, jam, and seeds into some slight oak, vinegar, hints of lemon, lactic as well, slight oak, finishing fairly tart, slightly sweet. Tasty.

Bottle, shared by Greg (thanks!). Ananke and Raspberry ananke tasted side-by-side. From rough notes.

Ananke - pours gold, hazy; light body, soft carb; sour, musty, cereal grains. Nod goes to raspberry here, but definitely nice.

Raspberry - pours an attractive red-pink; huge fruity raspberry nose, smells like candy (cotton candy meets jolly rancher). Some cherry as well. Very nice.

Bottle through trade! Pour has a deep red raspberry color and a fizzle of white head. Aroma has big ripe raspberry, light acidity, berry seeds, and a nice touch of wine barrels. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation medium low. Flavor kicks the base beer up a bit, light tart acidity, berry seeds, oak, raspberry, and a lingering finish. Overall it is a nice fresh berry sour.

Bomber. Poured a striking shade of light reddish-amber with a short, pink-tinted beige head. The aroma picked up fresh raspberry seeds and meat paired with vinegar, sour oak, and a bit of fruity Brett.. smelled like it was going to be very sour.. very nice. The flavor opened sour with raspberry-infused vinegar and oak.. more meaty berries, assorted light fruit skins (and sour raspberry seeds), and a bit of sour wheat on the middle.. finished very sour with raspberry seeds, vinegar, and complementary funk. Medium-bodied with low-ish carbonation on the palate.. much more sour than anticipated.. got caught up in a few places, but overall a very good brew!

bottle share at BW - pre-hill farmstead 3rd anniversary. hazy red-pinkish with a minimal head. raspberry puree, very fruity yet tart, vinous and oak, again those fatty chardonnay grapes, grass and herbs, light cheesy notes, light acidity. average carbonation, light body - oily, nice fruity tart citric finish. more balance than ananke base. and as enjoyable!

Bottle (22 oz). Shared by Seth and his crew at Hill Farmstead pre-3rd anniversary bottle share. Hazy red with pink reflects, small off-white/pinkish head and little to no lacing. Aroma is of raspberries, chardonnay, cherries, fruit tartness, light funk and oak. Taste is slightly sweet and moderately to heavily tart with raspberries & other red fruits, chardonnay and oak. Mouthfeel is dry and winey. Medium body. Mouth puckering. Very good raspberry Sour Ale. I preferred it to the regular Ananke (also shared by Seth). Really tart. Really good!

Bottle at share in Vt, pours murky grapefruit color with light head and lacing. Butter oak, white wine, rich raspberry fruit puree, funk, and heavy raspberry cheesecake. Medium to fuller bodied. This is unbelievably good.
