(growler of Solera II) clearish orange pour, constant ring/film of off-white bubble. Nose of lightly sour fruit, wood, wet wheat/oats, honey and some possible chlorine lurking. Taste of medium tart fruit, no funk, cereal grain/oats, tangerines and apricots. Medium creamy mouthfeel that’s oily slick. A very sessionable sour beer that’s quite enjoyable.

Solera V. Tap at Freetail. A hazy caramel brown beer with no head. Served real cold. The aroma is tart and quite pleasant, slightly funky almost minty, apples and almost smells like a lambic. The taste is slightly tart and not sour at all, mild funk, a medicine herbal like taste. I’m sure as they continue to make a beer of this type it will only get better.

Sampled on tap at the Freetail-Real Ale barrel-aged festival in San Antonio. This was Solera IV. The beer pours a hazy amber color with no head. Even after swirling the beer in the glass, I could barely get any bubbles. The beer is definitely a sour ale as the aroma is strong tart cherries. The flavor is more tart cherries with some lighter malt mixed in. Thin mouthfeel and low carbonation.

On tap at RealTail Festival at Freetail. Pours a clear amber with a small rothy white head. The aroma is a sweet fruit and citrus witth lemon zest. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet malt with light citrus and a nice dry finish. Easy to drink a very good sour ale from Freetail.

On tap at RealTail at Freetail Brewing Co in San Antonio on July 17, 2010. Solera IV: Ruby-brown color, translucent and clean appearance. Sweet, syrupy malt aroma. Flavor is warm and almost reminiscent of alcohol. little burned character. Very good, caramelly and malty. Thin, but syrupy. A little sour... really good, actually. Solera V: This one is definitely unfiltered... that, or my glass just got alot of sediment in it. It had a dark, muddy brown color. Overall, much like Solera IV, but muddier (although still thin in the mouth) and incredibly smooth with a more mellow aroma.

Growler thanks to travita. Notes of burnt hair, corn chips, old fruit, and booze. Slightly too oxidized for my taste but still decent beer.

Growler of Solera II thanks to travita. Pours with a white head and a hazy amber body. Aroma of must, pears, stone fruit, acidic, and burnt hair from a hair dryer. Taste is much more acidic, sour, fruity. Fizzy mouthfeel.
