COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Look up to the Texas night sky and witness a subtle blur. No, you haven’t had one pint too many, those are Tadarida brasiliensis, Mexican free-tailed bats, in action. The estimated 100-million free-tails living in Central Texas caves consume approximately 1,000 tons of insects each night, and are a vital part of our ecosystem and agriculture. This beer is a part of the United Nation’s year-long celebration of our miniature furry friends, as 2012 is the the Year of the Bat. Our ale features, beets, oranges, and rosewater - ingredients that wouldn’t be possible without the insatiable, insectiverous efforts of bats. $5 from each bottle sold will go to Bat Conservation International, learn more at www.batcon.org. Ingredients: 2-Row and pale crystal malts; malted wheat; sweet beets, oranges and rosewater; American hops; top-fermenting yeast; natural, limestone-filtered, Edwards Aquifer H2O; Scoring one for the little guy

Reviewed from notes; 22 oz bottle; pours a nice slightly hazy golden color with white head. Fruits, caramel malt, and some biscuit notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes sweet.

22 oz bottle acquired via trade long ago. Opened at Cellar Kill Night. Pours a nice golden orange hue, mellow haze, well carbonated and bubbly flowing body. Frothy whitish head atop dies to a mellow frothy layer, mellow lacing. Sticks around ok. Gentle dulled golden orange glow ois quite nice. Aromas are a touch sweet, fruity with apple, pear, some yeasty life. Gentle spiciness, firmer effervescent carbonation. Straw, grass, more spicy and yeasty life. Touch of beet sugar is fleeting, a bit raw. Initial is lighter and fairly dry, a bit yeasty and dry. Firmer yeast with bread, straw, gentle apple and oranges. Some gentle oxidation, dryness. Grainy, some yeastiness and effervescence into the middle. Some gentle fruit, firmer dryness and yeast presence. That rosewater really gives a distinct, dry floral feel throughout. Touches of fruit, gentle florals and beet sugars, mellow earthy and herbal dryness. Touches of tamer sweetness as we taper out. Bread, some yeasty dryness. Not bad, a bit of Belgian slant. Ok.

(22oz bomber) clearish medium gold, head that dissipates quickly. Nose of wheat, Belgian yeast, peach, apricot, lightly spicy, hints of wort. Taste of honey, orange, Belgian yeast, lightly spicy, white pepper, fairly refreshing and complex. Medium low carbonation, delicious finish of honey.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle thanks to Errl. Thanks! Pours a darker gold with a white froth of head. The aroma is kind of pilsnery and reminds me of Magic Hat Wacko a little bit. That must be the beets. Taste is on the verge of sweet and beety. If you really like beets, I think you could get into this beer. The dryness from the rosewater comes through in the finish, but the oranges got lost somewhere along the way. Very different.
