So stood President John F. Kennedy at the steps of the Rathaus Schöneberg, preparing to deliver what would become his iconic speech in front of 450,000 free citizens of West Berlin. "Today, in the world of freedom, the proudest boast is Ich bin ein Berliner!" A half-century later, our country embroiled in bitter political debate over the most trivial of ideals, we present this wood-aged Berliner Weisse as a tribute to the world of Freedom and an olive branch of collaboration to all those who can’t seem to get along. For those who wish to drink it, "Lass’ sie nach San Antonio kommen" – Let them come to San Antonio! Ingredients: Pilsen malt, malted wheat; traditional German hops; top-fermenting yeast; lactobacillus; natural, limestone-filtered, Edwards Aquifer H2O; jelly-filled donuts.

Pale cloudy yellow. Looks like a hefe. White fizzy head lasts a long time. Papery aroma. Light tart flavor with a surprising light malt finish a hint or sharpness in the aftertaste. A little bit of corn, sweetness peeks in here and there.

Tap at cottonwood. Pours a hazy yellow, little head. Aroma is gross. Vomit, trash, vinegar, fermenting bodily fluids. Wtf. Taste is slightly better, some wheat, light acidity, there is an always present vomit taste. Like bile. Not happy about it. Thin mouthfeel, high carbonation. Would not drink again.

12oz can pours cloudy pale golden straw yellow with a finger of head. Right off the bat the nose on this is gross, rotten vomit, stale grain, old cheese and some traces of diacetyl. Tatse isn’t quite as bad with some decent lemony grain and cereal flakes, still get the weird off putting notes of butryic acid and butter though, just to a lesser extent. Not very tart at all for a berliner. Finishes with low acidity, some soggy flaked grain and light lacto lemon. Dumped.

12 oz. Can purchased at Jester King. Correct gold color with active carbonation level. Correct aroma of lemons, wheat, straw. Lactic acid is mild in both aroma and flavor. The wheat base supports this very well, straw and lemons on the finish. Very weak sourness in the back of the sip. Very approachable and easy to drink, I drained the 12 oz with speed.

From notes. Tasted in early 2013 from a capped 22oz bomber bottle, big thanks to Curtis for sharing. Pours hazy super light yellow with an average white head that leaves very thin lace. The nose is lactic and sour with some woody popcorn and a light buttery note. The flavor is light lemon peel, an acidic lactic note, and the same buttery popcorn from the nose. The body is super light with lively carbonation and a long lactic sour finish.

Bottle-Purchased at brewery in May 2014 Pours bright hazy yellow with a very small fizzy white head that was gone very quick. Lots of carbonation, almost looks like a soft drink, Nose is woody, slightly sour, lite smoke, almost like beachwood or toasted oak maybe a wine barrel. flavors are very tart, not overly sour, lite grains, lots of yeasty qualities. body is lite and very thin but acceptible for this style. carbonation is sharp up front but dies off after the sip. Solid Berliner.
