COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Freigeist Abraxas, it’s also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at Göller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

Nice little beer. Pours cloudy yellow with good head and lacing. Nice smoked aroma with some bretta and funk. Bitter slightly burnt finish, but not overbearing on rauch. I can find no fault with this - generally well put together.

hazy orange gold, thin fizzy white ring. Dusty smoke nose, heavy wheat with considerable ester, light sour with heavy spritz lemon. Flavor is heavy lemon candy followed by light smoke, fatty and oily slickness. Smoke is schlenkerla quality, wished for more. Balanced throughout if a little sweet, no biting acids thankfully despite variety. Well done.

500 ml bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a white head of velvety foam, good sheets of lacing and retention as well. Aroma is doughy and a touch smoky. Some clove and cardamom esters as well. The doughy, estery, smoke come through in the taste, along with a hearty sourness kickng in and dominating. Spritzy carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Discount Liquor Milwaukee. Pours a hazy amber color with a white head. Aroma is lemon, wheat, a little smokey, maybe a touch of yeast. Medium on the palate with lively carbonation. Flavor is mostly sweet, but a touch of lactic sourness, smokey, wheat, lemon, with a light smokey finish. Very interesting.

Bottle from Grassroots, Jacksonville. It pours cloudy orange with a medium white head. The nose is earthy, light smoke, smoked cheese, ham, wheat, lactic and nut. The taste is smooth, wheat, lactic, earth, zesty orange, green banana, light tartness, faint smoke, hay and toast with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Well integrated flavour. Smooth, balanced and very drinkable. Yum.

Bottle via trade, shared at Stout 3 & Freestyle tasting. It pours hazy gold with a small white head. The nose is soft smoke, wheat, meaty, earth, touch of BBQ sauce and light sweetness. The taste is tart lemon, light smoke, lactic, meatiness, faint ketchup, sherbet and wheat with a dry, lightly tart finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Alcohol is well-hidden. I can’t say it’s my favourite style, but this example is smooth, well-balanced and drinkable.

Countbeer (4423) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUL 5, 2013
Bottled as AbraxXxas Berliner Weisse mit Rauchmalt: Served in a Chouffe glass: Hazy yellow pour. Beautiful snowy white foamy head that changes slowly. A beautiful hazy orange colored beer with some minimum and small chuncks floathing towards the bottom. Aroma is Bamberger rauch, with some malts and citrus, light herbal and very light soapy. Flavours of crispy citrus fruit like lemon, with some grapes and cactus/exotic fruit tones, a good rauch touch, light malty, Flavours of lemon, smoke, hazelnut, cream, malt and soft leather smoke, gentle sour, some pine and grapes, light grains and corn tones, yeast, Aftertaste is still light lemon, some grains and malts, smooth soft corn and close to buttery (but it’s not buttery). Overall it’s a light sour, cispy fruity yeasty corny griant lovely beer. Low to lightly mediun carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, very nice medium body and a creamy texture. Ar first there’s this, what the heck is mixed in this beer, but than.. Lovely!
