Like Freigeist Abraxas, it’s also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at Göller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

It’s smoked berlinerweisse. Why even bother rating this. Obviously it’s great. Amazing how the smokiness actually helps makes this beer more refreshing. Pretty strong smoke character all the way through. Lightly lactic acidity. Blue label.

Botella. Presencia pajiza ligeramente turbia con corona poco persistente. Aroma ahumado y especiado con trazas de levadura y malta aumentando. En boca ligeramente ahumada, acidez de trigo levaduras con final seco largo ahumado. Con carbonatacion media

From bottle @ The Festival (Portland). Hazy golden with a medium diminishing white head and little lacing. Aroma is weird with strong smoked notes along sour notes and lemon. Taste is sour and smokey with lemon and light herbal presence. Light to medium body. Lively carbonation. Weird, but well balanced considering the smoke/sour mix.

Draught, 6%. Subtly citric aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Big stable white head. The flavour starts off rather citric, lemony, lactic, but not that dry. Surprisingly lemony. Light body. Quite refreshing.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Very hazy yellow with highlights that lean toward grey-green in this lighting, crowned by a soft pillowy white head. Aroma is light smoke, light lemon, lightly sour, wheat. The palate delivers the same flavours, very nicely balanced, tart and refreshing. The smoke is very rustic, reminding me of some of the house hefes we had in Bamburg. This beer earns extra points from me for generating warm feelings of nostalgia.

Appearance: Hazy golden/amber with lacy white head
Aroma: Yeast, bit of funk, smoke
Taste: Lemony tartness, sour
Palate: Light body, lively carbonation, palate cleansing, with a smoke flavor that lingers nicely through the finish.
Overall: The light lemony/citrusy body is nicely complemented by the tart sourness and smoke.
