Like Freigeist Abraxas, it’s also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at Göller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

500 ml bottle at home. Cloudy orange with white head. Aroma is sweet, tangy, smoke, fruit. Taste is tangy, lots of smoke, salt, malt, fruit, orange with a finish with lots of smoke. Heavy body and thick mouthfeel. Interesting and pretty tasty but I don’t want to drink more than my 10 cl glass

Smak och doft av humle, jäst, citron, gräs, örter, trä med toner av rök och laktris. Lagom sötma, fin syrlighet. Lätt kropp, beska med toner av citrus. Välbalanserad och uppfriskande.

2012 version, bottled - one sampled fresh, the other 2 years later. lightly hazed orange with a thin white head; aroma of sweaty socks, pissed on campfire embers, lemon sherbet; plenty of lactic sourness, pleasant lightly salty smoked character, some citric tang.

Pour is a cloudy amber with a huge white head. Aroma is a small smoke, grilled meat with some lactic sourness. Flavor is tart and a bit sour with a nice chewy wheat malt. Some of the smoked malt comes out in the backround but it mostly appears after the swallow. Flavors are kinda mellow. The sour and smoke are there but not over the top. I’ve never had a lichtenhainer beer before so I have nothing to compare it to but I guess its a cross between a gose and rauchbier. Although it’s neither overly sour or smoky.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Cloudy deep blond color with almost no head. Mild aroma of sour malt, delicate fruity touch. Smooth mouthfeel; the combination of lactic sourness and smoked malt is delicate and very nice; the bitterness is quite low; ends with mild lemony acidity.
Very good.

Nice display of sour apple tartness & more traditional hefe like qualities. The fruity, sweet and sour aroma is brought together by a subtle but ever present smokiness, that comes through a little in the flavor as well. If the beer has a fault, it may be a little too yeasty and full for the style, but damn it’s complex and tastes great."

I love this style, so complex. Barnwood and slight mold and awesome lactic sourness. Each flavor popped up all over. Fantastic version. A++++

This beer was straight up blue cheese, both in the nose and taste. Slightly sweet, but cheese overwhelmed it. I love blue cheese and I love beer, but not united like votron.

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. Looks nice with a deep cloudy almost glowing orange body. It also has a small white top that’s leaving nice small blondes down the sides of the glass. It has a nice not to overpowering smoky beefy nose this. I even get traces of licorice and some grains. Lots of flavor! It’s a bit sharp and sour at first perhaps, I get hay, pickeled salty lemons and some really nice brett fruity thin in the back. In the mouth it feels light oily and it has a relatively high carbonation level. Not too much though. The smoke is not disturbing at all and honestly I don’t even notice it until the aftertaste. However it’s quite present in the aftertaste, but I kinda like it. Good stuff! 12.01.2014
