3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 RexTalionis (1429) - FINLAND - MAR 12, 2013
Bottled, BBE end of June/2014. Pours golden in color with a small whitish head. Smoke, burnt wood, sour candy and light hints of garden fruits in aroma. Light sour fruitiness in taste and smokiness in taste. Interesting, haven’t had anything quite like this before, sour and smoked fruity brew. Even some subtle notes of ham in aftertaste. Sour with some notes of wheat and slightly fruity finish. This keeps changing in taste a bit every now and while drinking it, which is okay I guess.

Clear yellow to light orange beer, nice creamy white head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, sweet ripe fruits, hint of banana, smoky, little grassy. MF: ok caron, medium body. Taste: sweet malty start, quite a lot of citric acidity, some grapefruit, bit smoky, green sour apples, apple skin. Aftertaste: nice crisp sourness, apple skin, bit lemony, subtle smoke flavours, slightly bitter, citrus and grapefruit, general fruitiness. Very original and refreshing beer.

Tasted blind. Hazy golden pour with a foamy white head. Nose is lightly smoky with some sweet pale malt underneath. Taste is the same, though it isn’t quite as pungent. Very smooth and smoky, with subtle sweetness. Thin and well-carbonated. Good stuff.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Elwood (2493) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Serving: 500 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a hazy light orange with a thick, off white head.. The nose has a touch of smoke and a sour tinge. The flavor has a slight graininess up front, quickly replaced with a light tartness and a hint of smoke on the back end. There is a clean, wheat finish. Light florals and lemon zest emerge as it warms. Light, clean, and deliciously different.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DYCSoccer17 (3012) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 24, 2013
500mL bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma is smoky with some bacon hints. Behind the smokiness is a banana yeast esteriness. Pretty nice. Mostly opaque golden-tan body with a medium white head and decent lacing. Starts with some mild tart flavors. Lightly acidic. Becomes more malty and chewy in the middle. Nice balance of light smokiness and banana esters. A lot going on here, but nothing really takes over the flavor. I’d prefer more tartness in this.

Pour out of 500 mL bottle, hazy orange-slightly copper pour with nice fluffy white head, aroma brought notes of sour fruits, slight lacto, hints of nice yeast notes, slight white fruits, hints of earth, grain, nice cherrywood notes with a touch of toffee, nice. Taste is a mix of sweet caramel, toffee, slight esters, fruit hints of white grape, slight pear, nice cherrywood/smoky notes, hints of nice lacto and lemon, finishing sweet, smoky, funky, sour, all balanced somehow very well.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 notalush (4174) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 15, 2013
Turbid orange pour - soapy lace - lovely moderate beechwood smoke in the nose is complimented surprisingly well by soft wheat, lightly doughy yeast, and very mild acidity - soft texture in the mouth - flavor is lightly bready, a touch tangy - mild to moderate lactic character is not exactly sour - more like citrus than anything - light undercurrents of smoke throughout - it is surprising how well all of these elements work together - very interesting and enjoyable beer, but by no means a berliner weisse - should probably be listed as a smoked or traditional ale.
