Like Freigeist Abraxas, it’s also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at Göller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

Bottle from Bierkompass, bought in 2013. Hazy dark golden with a small head. Light notes of smoke, also wood, malt and "cake batter". Not that sour. The body was fairly light. An ok one.

@Gyllenbock: en ganska liten doft. Smaken är också ganska liten men med en tydlig syrlighet. Någon rökmalt tycks jag inte känna. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Pours a golden orange with some carbonation. It subtley smells of lemon peel, and the body is light. There is an underlying saltiness, and sourness. However the most prominent tastes are of wheat and tartness from lemon peel.

500 ml bottle brewed at Göller. Aroma is moderately smokey with a nice medium light wheat character and faint acidity. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a fairly large and thick, faintly off white head. Solid retention with moderately high lacing and faint legs. Flavor is moderately tart with a nice lactic acidity. Moderate smoked malt character cuts through the acidity while the acidity keeps the smoke in check. No bitterness or hop flavor. Moderate wheat character. Moderate citrus character with a light fruitiness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall this is a really enjoyable beer and the best version of this style that I have tried. This is the first version where the smoke seems well integrated with the acidity instead of two different notes acting separately.

500 ml. Pours a turbid amber with light head. Aromas of smoke and stoned fruit. Flavors of smoke, mangos, and oranges. Smoke first, fruit later. Odd.

Very happy these were imported; it’s not every day you get to try a new style. Hazy deep gold, white head. Nose is yogurt (I’ve always wondered at that beer description and finally found one where it fits for my palate), lemon, smoke. Flavour is more yogurt, smoke but not too much. Not as good as the Geisterzug but still enjoyable.

Poured from 1 pint (9 fl oz) bottle. Slightly hazy golden yellow with minimal white head. Aroma has grain, mild sour apricot, and very subtle smoke. Taste of grain, sour funk, smoke, and some lemony apricot. Very lactic texture. Quite odd, I literally said "wtf?" after the first sip, didn’t like it on the second sip, but began to enjoy it around the halfway point. Definitely a once in a blue moon kind of beer.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a slight orange tinge and a small white head. Nose brings out the smoked malt upfront, followed by some lactic sourness and salt. Flavour brings out loads of lactic tartness, followed by just enough of the smoked malt presence. Very milky mouthfeel from the lactose, which gives way to subtler tartness than would’ve otherwise been noticeable I think. This was a surprising hit for me - extremely well-designed and highly drinkable stuff. Excellent.

Bottle:   Bright straw, faint haze, light carbonation, small sudsy white head, little lacing.   Soft tart nose, noticeable smoked malts.   Smooth soft sweetness from start to finish, a little lime, smoke, witih a touch of salty goodness coming on the backside.   Not as bubbley as others, seems softer.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Sweet and salty finish, touch of lime zest, with faint smoke rounding it out.   Easy to drink, and enjoyable if a little simple.   Good balance, a little mealy after the finish.
