COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like Freigeist Abraxas, itís also inspired by the style Lichtenhainer, but this version is stronger (6% alc.) and contains more lactic sourness. Brewed until 2012 at Braustelle (375 ml bottle), from 2013 at GŲller in Zeil (330 ml bottle).

Freigeist Abraxxxas is a unique and refreshing German beer. It is officially listed as a Lichtenhainer style. Abraxxxas has a clear but darker amber color with a white head. Aroma is lightly fruit -- kind of like a lemon. Taste is well balanced mix of lemony fruit, wheat and yeast with a touch of sourness (no pucker factor.) Finish is clean with no aftertaste. Very enjoyable. Give Freigeist Abraxxxas a try if you find it; you donít come across this style very often (at least in the US.)

Small white head, cloudy orange colour. Great smoked aroma with hints of bitterness. Sour citrus taste and a light smoked note in the overall very citrus-like palate. Unique.

ON tap a refreshing slightly smoky wheat ale. Obviously an old style that is pretty much no longer produced. It is has lots of lactic sourness, medium to high. Slight smokiness reminiscent of peat. East drinking, thirst quenching.

thank you Jonas! Luminescent orange, nice light but stable head. Smells like lovely smokey deli blossoming like a flower on my nose. Lively carbonation. Really cool! Smokey to the max and salty like vegetarian deli meats. More intensely flavored than the original but both are nice. This is longer on the palate. Salty and smokey and itís so hard to find these flavors together. I love it, so pleasurable.

37,5cl bottle from Bierkompass. Wow! Hadnīt read anything about this beer before tasting it, believing it to be a trad. berliner weisse. Perfect marriage of rauchbier and berlinerweisse! Poured slightly cloudy deep orange/brown color with a white, slightly frothy head, quite thin and quickly disappeared. Aroma is mild smokey (comes to think of Bamberg smoke) with some fruity sourness. Flavor similar to aroma, smoke, berries (strawberries perhaps) and some sourness. Finish is quite long with nice smoke and slightly bitter. Excellent beer and very drinkable.

Orange. White head. Aroma is smoky and fireplace-like. Also some wheat and herbs in the aroma. Flavour is very sour and fruity. Weird beer in a good way. Surprising too.

330 ml bottle. Pours cloudy amber with small white head. Intensive roasty aroma with hints of sourness. Very sour tastewith notes of citrus and the roast disappearing into the background. The palate is dominated by a sourness that vanishes quickly and leaves a roasty finish. Very interesting beer!

Bottle and served in my Ayinger Hefewizen glass: Pours a cloudy golden hue with a long lasting frothy head and good lace. WOW, what an interesting nose. Light to moderate rauchmalt smokiness along with light lactic acid sourness on a bed of wheat. Ever so slight banana and clove as well with a lasting bacon character. The taste shockingly works as neither the smoke nor the sourness dominates the other along both to display the best of what they are. The lighter sprite body and mouth watering sourness makes this the easiest drinking smoked bier I have ever had. Not only do I want more I also want to try the "regular" Abraxas too. YUMMY!

Pretty good beer...it comes in a 500 mL bottle with Hermann Hesse on the front! Itís blonde/golden in color with wispy, white head. For such a unique beer it has a rather timid nose, but I do have a cold. It is a bit tart, donít know if thatís from acidulated malt, bacteria, or both. The smoke isnít overpowering but is present throughout. Itís like drinking a mild but fine cheese!
