2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2012
April 2010: This is the big, smoked brother of Freigeist Abraxas. The same dark green 0.75cl capped sparkling wine type bottle being used.
Given to me by Sebastian, one of the brewers, thanks again.
Poured into Berlinerweiss bowl, a Westmalle chalice and a Grolsch ’Het Canon’ cup.
Cloudy, moody and murky, a Jaffa Cake marmalade colour, no head to talk of.
The smell was of burnt peat, old ash trays and grapefruit!
The taste was of weak smoked ham, acidic, but not vinergarous, sour, bitter and fairly dry. The grapefruit from the aroma also came into the flavours.
I found the beer interesting, but ’not my cup of tea’.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4783) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 27, 2011
In short: An original sour and smoked blonde ale of great complexity
How: Bottle 375ml, consumed approximately 9 months after purchase directly from the source
The look: Cloudy golden-blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is slightly smoked, citrusy notes and freshly squeezed lemons. In mouth the beer packs a lot of wheat, a sharp tartness, assertive sourness, moderate amount of wood smoke, citrus fruits of all kinds, notes of bananas Lively carbonation. Compared to its little sister (the 3.8% Abraxas), the Abraxxxas had a more complex fruity flavors but I thought the lacto sourness was a too dominant. Tasted more like a regular sour blonde ale than a Berliner Weisse. But its smoke really makes it stand out of the over crowded sour ales. Abraxxxas is still a damn fine beer but I much preferred the 3.8% Abraxas. This is surprising because I usually prefer everything that has XXX in the name.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - SEP 30, 2011
(at Festival der Bierkulturen 2010, Köln) Cloudy, golden colour with a short and slightly off-white foamy head. Rather discreet aroma: slightly yeasty and delicately sour nose with wheaty notes and a touch of smoke. Sour and slightly salty flavour, light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Sourish wheaty and citrus-fruity taste with slightly lactic accents and hints of smoke; dry and sour-fruity (citrus, apples), also slightly salty finish. A remarkable liaison of intention and the brewers house character. Congrats Herr Sauer ! 16.V.10

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 thewolf (8666) - Kolding, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2011 Bottle, bought @ Bierkompass.de.
Pours hazy orange with no real head. Aroma has rubber gloves , toasted caramel and quite a bit of Werthers Echte. Very weird combination. High carbonation, dry as sh**. Flavour is dry malts, light wheat sweetness, lactic, a bit of sharpness, light sulphuric, apples. Quite weird and nowhere near as balanced as the Abraxas. Tasted alongside the Abraxas]
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DSG (3006) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JUL 8, 2011
Bottle shared at the 1st Israeli Sour Tasting. Thanks Koelschtrinker for this bottle. Clear golden with a white head. A slightly lactic aroma with fruits, light smokiness, wheat and some citrus. Sour lactic flavor with nice citric notes. Medium-bodied. Tasty. Later note: After the tasting I had the last few sips left in the bottle, and a big smokiness hit me on the tongue. So, the flavor is also quite smoky even though I didn’t notice it before.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kristall-König (1642) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - JUL 3, 2011
Jut!Test vom 13.5.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche
