Stretch labelling this as a sour or wild. The hibiscus dominates perhaps it should be a herb spice beer.

Interesting imperial altbier. Huge on floral notes tastes a bit old but otherwise nice.

Tap at CK thanks to craftycarl21! Thick brown haze head great foam. Huge lacing. Nose is excellent pancake, strawberry syrup, smoke. Taste is malty, toffee, pancake batter. Rich, dense. Wasnít sour or really what Iíd call a hibiscus beer- way too malty/rich.

10oz on tap at Libertyís. Completely hazy dark red, kind of brown color. Decent ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Kind of slick texture, more drying in the finish.; Dark fruit, some stale flavors up front, but they subside as Ig o. Some cherry, and floral notes. Some oxidization in the nose. Moderate sweet taste, lightly tart. Didnít really notice much sourness at all up front, until I started thinking about it. Interesting stuff to try. Not bad. Wonder how old it is, though... Tastes a bit unnecessarily malty.

On tap at Spuyten for their Fruity Cologne! event. Pours a hazed ruby with a medium to large creamy beige head. Sour milk,a but of roast and malt. Medium bodied, paper and touches of infection. Not terrible, but not really worth the time. Little hints of tartness.

Draft at Spuyten with Dallas and Street. Pours a hazy murky brown body with one finger off white head. Aroma is strong alcohol, strong spice and a light floral character. Mouthfeel is carbonated with a bitter, abrasive alcohol character up front; backing flavors of belgian spice, flowers, soap, dark fruit and lots of booze.

Draft on tap at Mariaís (Chicago, IL). An odd find that I definitely sought out when it showed up on BeerMenus. Pours a dulled darker reddish pour, some copper and rusty hues show some decent haze, a bit dark in this light. Frothy offwhite head stays as a mellow layer, sticks around ok and laces small. Aromas are a bit bready, some biscuits and tartness. Gentle hibiscus meets some lemon, lactic elements and straw. A gentle darker sweetness, faint cocoa and biscuit, carmelized feel. Initial is some dark fruit, mellow sour twang meets biscuits, faint bit of cocoa, biscuits and bread. The hibiscus element doesnít quite deliver, the middle showing a firmer malt presence, some dark slants, and a bit of a twangy tartness at times. A bit more dry and earthy as we round the corner, some gentle carmelized malts and lingering sweetness still hang on. Underdeveloped and a bit big for itís britches. Not my cup of tea. While I understand itís not quite in the sour league I generally look for, the malt presence seems dulled, sweet, dark fruit and toffee elements strike firm while gentle tartness and hibiscus elements get covered up largely for me. It doesnít taste bad, it just didnít quite offer what I was expecting.

4oz at Churchkey. Pours a clear mahogany amber with some lacing white head. Nose is floral and sweet, some cracker and malt, not too much else, sweet. Flavor is malty, floral, rose hips, honey comb, earthy, mild blood orange, light pomegranate. Clean finish.

On draft at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont. Poured a slightly dark indigo copper color with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma was dried fruits, some light sour, but not sour-sour. Flavor was a very light tart character, not that sour, but interesting enough. I didnít get a whole lot of flowers, but then again Iím not usually eating a bunch of hibiscus flowers.
