3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Spiced bread with caramel; some butterscotch qualities; a touch of apple. Appearance: Murky dark brown pour with a foamy tan head that dissipated into a sticky ring. Flavor: Semi-sweet, spicy bread that is followed by a lingering noble hop presence. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, flat carbonation, lightly bitter finish. Overall: A pretty good beer, but I have the feeling that the bottle I consumed was a little old.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
pours cloudy almost murky dark copper-reddish with a small light beige cap, little retention, no lacing per say. toffee and caramel - loads of diacetyls, some lightly roasted and smoked nuts, doughy and buttery fruitiy malts - raisins, booze, very spicy - pepper but also licorice, grass, clean yeast, salt, lots of brown sugar with a maple syrup touch. moderate to low carbonation, medium body - oily and a bit sticky, short to medium long bitter grassy-piney-earthy finish. smooth mouthfeel and almost balanced. awkwardly o-k.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle pour..darker caramel color with a slight white head resting atop..nose is malty..bit grainy..touches of honey and molasses..mouthfeel is quite good with a well done subdued smokiness that doesn’t overpower everything and lead to a smokey mess.but provides the ideal smoke character matched with a medium bodied hoppy presence..a novice to this style but this is by far the most enjoyable freigeist offering I have had to date..nice offering sebastian well done..

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From 500ml bottle. A dark mahogany in glass. Very dark. Beige head. Nose is lots of sweet malts (think molasses chews), some caramel and nuttiness. Also, surprise, traces of hops. Very inviting. Taste is malty, but not cloying. Raisins. Fruit liquor. Bitterness on the back end. Velvety palate. Drinks smoothly.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. I don't really know what to make of this. Maybe this was a bad bottle - smelled and tasted a little off at first, then settled into some weird flavours as it warmed. Malty aromas of caramel and some subtle dark fruits. Some strange sourness and bitterness, reminiscent of sour milk. Bizarre.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Dark amber body, tan head that leaves spotty lace. Aroma is caramel with hazelnut. Caramel malts with sharp noble hop character that cuts the finish. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2/16/2014. Pours red brown with a creamy tan head. Aromas are sweet and malty with dried fruit. Very hoppy for the style and the alcohol content seem higher than it is. Interesting beer.
