Handpump @Buskers Pub (Rome). Pours deep black, dense, wit ha minimal beige-cappuccino foam. Aroma is roasted malts, cereals, coffee and chocolate. Flavour is similar, medium sweetness with a bitter end, some coffee and dark chocolate notes. Medium to high body, low carbonation. Not bad!

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque black brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was rye and brown malt. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering malty aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of rye brown malt and hops. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Rated on 01-31-2015 at 800 Degrees Three Fires, Fort Wayne, IN. This draft beer has no head, opaque dark brown body and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is rye, malt and roasted. The flavor is rye, roasted, malt, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, a quaffable beer that needs more flavor and lacks character.

Black color with a light beige head that quickly diminishes, nice lacework. Aroma has notes of black chocolate, toasted malts, some sweet hints and rye traces. Flavor has notes of toasted malts, some roasted, black coffee, light licorice, slightly sweet. The final is roasty with notes of toasted bread.

Dark brown with almost no foam. Creamy but very syrupy (if that’s a word). Almost no aroma. Very roasty, burnt wood taste. Hints of coffee. So much sugar! It’s almost like cough drop. Can’t say I liked it.

Bottle thanks to Theydon_Bois, cheers Colin. Black beer with lasting dense tan head. Some liquorice on the aroma. Quite smooth in the mouth. Touch of spicy rye I guess. chocolate and coffee kick in later in the swallow. It’s pretty drinkable to be honest. The liquorice spicy rye thing actually works quite well together. Touch of heat from the alcohol on the palate. More chocolate on the finish. Rather decent. Spicyness is rather good.

33cl bottle from P&M, two months past BB date. Pours dark brown with crema head. Lots of unappetizing light brown sediment. Sour coffee roast aroma. Burnt malt, syrup and coffee flavour, good with a sharp bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Dark brown with a golden shine, brown cramy ring. Aroma is light minerally, burned caramel, rye edges, strong licorice. Fullbodied, solid, quite dry mouthfeel. Licorice and dark chocolate, a hint vanilla, rye notes are integrated well, berrylike notes, herbal hops in the finish, spicy aftertaste. A lot going on here, initially a bit too dense for me but I am warming up to it.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. This is a deep dark brownish looking one. It has a somewhat lacing dark beige top that’s sticking to the sides of the glass. On the nose it’s soft woody, dark with some spices? A little bit of chocolate and cocoa also. Mild. Really wood chocolate in the taste. Almost mineral water-ish. A soft coffee thing here as well. It this an imperial stout? I can’t sense any alcohol what so ever until a little warming spicy hint in the aftertaste. Yeah, I could drink this again. 02.05.2014
