COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

skortila (4631) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - AUG 10, 2014
Bottled @ de Molen 2nd Tuesday tasting. 10cl sample. bbd mar 2012. The aroma has sweetish honey, maple, pine, rosemarry. Clear, brown coloured beer with no head. The taste is sourish, sweet, very spicy, has caramel, some porto. Would be better without the sourness.

Bottled @ de Molen tasting, BB March 2012, small sample. Hazy brownish color, short head. Aroma of rosemary, some vinous note, bit port, caramel, toffee, hint of raisin. Sour taste, bit sweet. Besides the spices in the aroma, underneath is some wonderful aged barley-wine-like beer. However in taste, the sourness ruins it. Unbalanced and messy.

Benzai (8999) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 10, 2014
Sampled from bottle @ De Molen 2nd Tuesday Tasting. Hazy red - brownish color, virtually no head. Aroma is toothpaste and a horrible mix of herbs and spices. Taste is fortunately a bit better due to lightly sourish influences. The herbs and spices are way less prominent so it’s quite drinkable imo, as long as you don’t smell it.

Bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting at De Molen, hosted by dEnk. BBE 03-2012. Aroma of menthol, licorice, herbs, cough syrup, rosemary and loads of spices. Flavor is quite spicy, sour, licorice and herbs. Loads of herbs. Horrible.

Bottle. Strong spiciness, sourness, vinegar. I’m not convinced that the rosemary was such a good idea.

Plaas (86) - Alkmaar, NETHERLANDS - SEP 11, 2012
Sour ale, but no vinegar - the sourness was rather subtle. Spicy aroma, lots of rosemary, pine, cinnamom. Malty, bread. Very complex, deep taste. I really enjoyed this.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy weak rosemary aroma. Fruity malty sour woody flaovr with hints of rosemary. Fruity malty sour woody spicy finish.

(Bottle, 0.375 l - BBE 06/13, at Pikkulintu, 20120709) The beer poured brown and quite cloudy. Its head was medium sized, sparse and white. Aroma had cough mixture, spices, malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spices, sweetness, rosemary, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was herbal, sweet and bitter. Even though I like rosemary a lot it didn’t work well in this beer.

Zu Beginn sind starke Rosmarinnoten offensichtlich, die auch im weiteren Verlauf eine übergeordnete Rolle spielen. Geringe Säuerlichkeit. Diese ist aber eher untergeordnet und passt gut. Etwas herb. Vollmundig, trocken fruchtiges Finish. 8/12/12/14/11/13
