Bottle. Hazy, brown color with hardly any head. Aroma is funky, not much raspberry to the smell. Slightly fruity, no artificial raspberry to this at all. Taste is very sour with hints of fruit, woody chocolate and old grains, really a large amount of natural raspberry taste.

Idiosynkrasie (4584) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 22, 2015
500ml bottle [brewed at Vormann]. Murky darkest brown colour with late awakening, small, frothy to creamy, rapidly diminishing, beige head. Slightly ephemeral, full-blown raspberry aroma, sweet-ish, tart-ish, and spicy, chocolately background, a touch of liquorice and leather. Taste is slightly tart, dry, restrained raspberry notes without hints of remaining sweetness nor herbal touch, just fruit acid; some sweetness seems to be delivered by the chocolately malty basis. Slightly unconnected, heterogeneous.

CanIHave4Beers (3534) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 28, 2015
Bottle in the dining room ffs
Pours a very dark, almost black color with ruby hues when held up to the light. A vigorous pour produces a loose, small large bubbled that fades fairly quickly.

The aroma is especially mild... it’s got some raspberry jam & some roastiness. But there just isn’t much happening here.

The beer tastes delicious, loads of raspberry jam, mild bits of roastiness... some lactic yogurt-like stuff going on with some sour fruit. Really tart, in fact the porter-like character really plays second fiddle to the tart raspberry flavor while complimenting it at the same time.

The palate is a weird one for me, it’s a full bodied beer with a nice sharpness but it feels dead flat. I don’t know that an especially high carbonation would have made this beer awesome, but it could have used some bubbles for sure.

Weird but cool.

bhensonb (12048) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 20, 2015
Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark and ruddy (held against very strong light) with a few bubbles. Aroma is raspberry over some sour chocolate brownie. Med body. Flavor is raspberry and sour chocolate brownie isn’t quite right, but it’s something like that. Not all that sour, but sour it is. Different and interesting.

Bottle - Light raspberry and prune with some tart notes. Deep purple brown with a small frothy beige head. Tart, prune, light berry notes and a very watery tongue. Very easy drinking, but not all that interesting.

Tsekouratos (453) - Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, GREECE - MAR 5, 2015
500 ml bottle from The Hoppy Pub. Muddy grey-brown color, hazy, beige head. Aromas of intense berries, and maybe some coffee and chocolate. The taste is like raspberry juice, with maybe some chocolate on the back. Only slightly sour, sadly. Medium body with low carbonation.

12/27/15. 500mL bottle from Hy Vee, Davenport. Dark brown pour under a small tan head, mild lacing. Funky aroma, subdued raspberry, a touch of chocolate and coffee. Salty flavor, not too much, plenty of raspberry, some chocolate and coffee, roasted malts. Not bad.

ksiwzos (82) - GREECE - JAN 21, 2015
0.5L Bottle from German e-shop Opaque dark brown beer with almost no head. Amazing combination of roasted malts(chocolate), sweet and tasty maltiness with delicate but intense berry aroma on top. Some notes dark dried fruits. Light tartness, very smooth, berries, some sweet chocolate, strawberry again, some malty sweetness. Medium body, almost no carbonation, light tart aftertaste with chocolate and berry combination again. High drinkable beer, not amazingly complex with very good combination of flavors but with some minor technical issues.
