Cola coloured with a small beige head and medium carbonation. Aroma is a bit vinous, funky with overripe cheries. Flavor starts tart, funky cherries and ends with ash, roasted malts and some coffee. A brew with multiple personalities. A sour fruit beer and a porter in one. The combination works but it remains two in one and does not become a singular style. I would prefer a good sour or a good porter over this one.

Unclear matt dark brown color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white - pink head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, cherry, toffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a long duration, tart cherry, chocolate, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20141012]

Bottle. Quite a fair amount of slightly metallic cherries, a subtle hint of vanilla, lots of roast, ashtray. Clearly sour and roasted-bitter at the same time. Lacks integration, haphazard and not enjoyable stuff, at least for me. Especially said combination of sourness and over the top roast does not go well together. Interesting idea, poorly executed.

Brown reddish color. Intense smell of dark bitter chocolate. Malty, cherry smell. Intense acidic, lots of cherry and complex roast flavors. Short aftertaste. Great complex sour porter

A steady pour into my glass produces a 1.5-finger thick, pale brown tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a dark, chocolate brown color that shows opaque, but a clear brown sheen around the edges. The beer smells lightly tart, or burnt roasted grain / coffee, and has a bit of supporting, cherry like fruitiness to it as well; so, all the character on the label is there. Lightly acrid, toasted whole grain bread, blackened whole-grain crackers, and roasted grain husks become the dominant note after a short bit.

Quite tart tasting at first, and there is lots of sour cherry flavor here; the latter, tartness, seems to be significantly derived from the cherries even. Bitter, not quite acrid, roasted, burnt grain notes as well as a wholesome, toasted brown, whole-grain character describes the malt character pretty well. The body is fairly light, but without being thin, it has just a touch of viscosity towards the middle finish.

This is certainly an interesting beer, the sour and cherry character are pretty straight forward executions added to this Porter, but the whole seems to work pretty well to make for a reasonably tasty tipple, but it doesn’t really wow me either at this point. Still, this is nice, and I am enjoying this beer.

From the bottle poured into tulip glass. Huge off white head. Color is dark red to Brown. Nose is malty, toasty, smoke and cherry of course. Taste is sour cherry smoke and its very fizzy. Finish is astringent warming alcoholic feel. Not much of my Type...

Mmmm I really like this one. Appearance is a pinkish light tan head on a very dark brown beer. Aroma is a delightful slightly tart fruit coffee cocoa, roast, malt, leather. Flavor is similar to nose with tart coming out more and the cherry is exactly perfect. Body is good. Super yummy brew.

16.9oz bottle. Dark brown hue/decent tan head, though it didn’t last long. Full of black currant, sour cherry, cocoa, dark roasted grain, red wine & sea salt flavors. Like a gose/cherry porter hybrid. Medium+ body (could’ve been heavier) and medium carbonation.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big sour cherry, black currant, red wine, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, toast, dark bread, sea salt, light licorice, hay, straw, grass, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of cherries, dark/roast/bready malts, fruity/acidic yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of sour cherry, black currant, red wine, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, toast, dark bread, sea salt, light licorice, hay, straw, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/acidic tartness and herbal/roasted bitterness after the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherry, currant, red wine, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, toast, dark bread, sea salt, hay, grass, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, dark/roast/bready malt, fruity/acidic yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and acidic/saline mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice fruited sour porter style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, dark/roast/bready malt, fruity/acidic yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the balanced acidity. A very enjoyable offering.
