raymondwave (778), Finland Nov 23, 2006 Updated: Nov 25, 2006Tasting of 10 altbiers. First seems flat, then bitter and smooth mouth feel. Very long pils like hoppy aftertaste. Turned out on top 3! Surprisingly good. bierkoning (4691), La Tropica, Netherlands Jan 30, 2006 Cookie dough aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Sweetish cookie dough flavor (Bastogne koeken!). Malty with a touch of bitterness coming up in the aftertaste. Better as expected. MoritzF (3690), Ruhrpott, Germany Dec 13, 2005 (bottle) Supermarket brand, brewed for Rewe-markets. Clear mahogany coloured hue with a small but stable off-white head. Roastmalty aroma, not unpleasantly sweet and a hoppy note, no detectable fruity esters but a hint of glue. Dry roastmalty taste, light to medium bodied, ok-carbonated, almost lasting bitter hoppy finish. Still drinkable brew…if you are LOST on a remote island, far away from Düsseldorf. Probably the old DAB Alt. pivnizub (3768), Porúří, Germany Oct 22, 2005 Bottle: Clear amber to brown coloured, mid-sized off-white lacing head; very shy fruity nose, a tinge of caramel, a tinge of cardboard; extremely light malty taste, pretty on the "Dunkel" side; mild, slightly malty finish with a touch of bitterness; all in all drinkable, but rather weak. Nate (2207), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 8, 2005 Nice malty aroma, grainy, rye, bit of molasses. Light hops presence, paper. Dark orange-brown clear with off-white foamy lacing head with decent retention. Medium watery body with light-medium carbonation. Taste starts semi-sweet and with some acidity. Light papery taste, followed with some very light molasses-sugar or burnt rye bread taste. Finish is medium acidic and mildly bitter. After is medium bitter with hint of rye sweetness. Tasted a bit old, but not bad for a discount-grocery type of beer.
