Clear light to medium orange amber color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate and fruity notes. Flavor is light moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090403]

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2006 Tasting of 10 altbiers. First seems flat, then bitter and smooth mouth feel. Very long pils like hoppy aftertaste. Turned out on top 3! Surprisingly good.

Farbe ok, Schaumkrone hält mittelmäßig. Es riecht süß-malzig, ganz leicht röstig. Geschmacklich: Es schmeckt, als wäre der Braumeister etwas unsanft mit dem röstmalz umgegangen, denn es wirkt grob und etwas bitter, das heisst allerdings nicht das es schlecht schmeckt, süß- röstmalzig-bitter. Der Nachgeschmack ist röstmalzig, etwas bitter und hält ca. 5min an. Fazit: Ok!

(bottle) Supermarket brand, brewed for Rewe-markets. Clear mahogany coloured hue with a small but stable off-white head. Roastmalty aroma, not unpleasantly sweet and a hoppy note, no detectable fruity esters but a hint of glue. Dry roastmalty taste, light to medium bodied, ok-carbonated, almost lasting bitter hoppy finish. Still drinkable brew…if you are LOST on a remote island, far away from Düsseldorf. Probably the old DAB Alt.

Bottle: Clear amber to brown coloured, mid-sized off-white lacing head; very shy fruity nose, a tinge of caramel, a tinge of cardboard; extremely light malty taste, pretty on the "Dunkel" side; mild, slightly malty finish with a touch of bitterness; all in all drinkable, but rather weak.

Mild malziger Antrunk, etwas herb, unauffällig. Bitter röstig werdend, etwas wässrig, sehr mild. Herb-röstig im Abgang, wie gesagt, unauffällig. Kein besonderes Alt, insgesamt aber trinkbar und ohne große Mängel.
