JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 9, 2007 Draught Clear dark red with a dense, off-white collapsing head. Liquorice, aniseed and some dark malts. Soft sweet, caramel taste with a bit nutty character and some chocolate covered nuts dissolved in water. Light to medium. Artificially enhanced body. This is a (not very exciting) Dunkel. Schwarzbier - do they know what it means? StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 25, 2006 Another beautiful beer from this brewery, settling in with a deep translucent cherry brown color and a super cafe frappe / mocha khaki head and a lacing tract that could throw off snow dogs. Crushed mocha beans and granular coffee are aromatically sidelined by distant, cleanly caramel and rubber chocolate nuts. Mild milk chocolate and heath bars waft psychometrically all around. A lighter fairing flavor with pinions of caramel, light toffee and copper kettle accents. Loose, light slips hint at an easy going format of hazelnut coffee while Score bars gain a tally mark for sweetening. Whole wheat hard rolls meet a light cocoa-bran combo, sweetened with caramel and toffee. Serving temperature and carbonation are perfect, as is the balance. Heath toffee crunch characteristics hang around in the finish with liquefied maple brown sugar and pure cocoa bean crushings, along with those hazelnut dashings for support. joss (3120), Garching b. München, Germany Mar 28, 2004 Slight nutty and yeasty aroma.
Chestnut coloring, whipped cream head.
Fullbodied, chocolate and nutty notes, topped of with aromatic hops. Bitterhop exit.
Very nice schwarzbier. fiulijn (5860), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Oct 9, 2003 Deep amber color. Light malt aroma. Pleasant malty body, with some caramel, but not enough character (nor hop). It has less malt/caramel taste and more aroma than the Gogolori. Dryer.
