COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle from a store in Freistadt, 2006. A pretty decent and likable dunkel. Not very sweet, a little bit closer to a Czech Dunkel than the average Austrian one. Decent roasted taste, but it was not really overly special. It was still a little bit too sweet for me, but it was still enjoyable.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber to brown colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Discreet aroma of light toasted malt, also slightly sugary with a whiff of caramel. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, soft on carbon. Moderately toasted malty taste with light but well-integrated herbal accents; sweet and slightly bitter, toasty and malt-accented finish. Easy-going and likeable Dunkel (03.XII.08).

Bottle, Dank an Quack-Duck! Clear, ruby-amber coloured, slowly diminishing off-whit head, shy dark-malty, caramelly nose with a bitter touch. Moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied. Lingering caramelly-hoppy finish with a coffeeish touch in the aftertaste. A restrained, but very well balanced Dunkel...........

bottle, bought at the lovely brewery. Clear brown colour, large beige head. Malty nose. Full-bodied, very malty with hints of caramel and chocolate and green app.e The green apple makes a very nice and unusual contrast with the aromatic hops in the lingering finish. A superb Dunkles, which strongly reminds me of good Czech dark beers. No wonder, this one is brewed only about 20km from the Czech border. Brilliant!
