4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Guest tap at Pike. I wrote down Abominator so hopefully the right one. Dark beer with light head and good lacing. Strong dusty strong malt aroma. Creamy slick body and very nice light chocolate and coffee.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2012 22oz bomber from Elise. Opaque brown-black. Thin beige head. Mellow mouthfeel, subdued carbonation. Chocolate and caramel tones dominate, with a nice well rounded hop bill offering balance and depth. Chewy dark Brown Ale. A mellow beast, this is quite malt forward for a West Coaster. Some piny gingerbread, toffee. Subtle and unique. Some syrupy black malt tones, some brown sugar. A lot going on, but the tastes really merge together.

Can shared by Bob. Lightly sweet malt and some alcohol, and the hop presence is noticeable. Solid beer.

Rich, hoppy, American brown ale aroma. Good label. Fairly sweet, woody, cocoa, nicely bitter, a little chalky. Satisfying mmouthfeel and finish. Very dark brown, tan head. Finish goes a bit grassy. Thanks to Triock for hauling this back from the west coast.

Can @ a recent bottle share... Poured dark reddish-brown with an off-white head. Tasted of toasted sugars, chocolate, roast, and an earthy hop spice. But not too bitter. Not overly complex, but a great drinking winter ale.

Could easily pass as a sweet/milk stout. Deep black with a lasting tan head. Milkshake-like texture is smooth, creamy and heavy, with only a mild carbonation. Lots of residual sweetness makes it more of a dessert beer than a winter warmer, but itís a rich and tasty sweetness. Big notes of milk chocolate and sweetened espresso with cream. Soft carafa malts come through nicely. Earthy, herbal and spicy hops are very mellow; 47 IBUs struggle under the weight of all the malts. Overall, itís a tasty beer; itís just a little too sweet for me.

August maroon-amber body. Candi sugar and scotch malt backbone with notes of bubblegum in aroma and flavor. Reserved roastiness. Nice body, alcohol is completely masked. Good stuff.

Tap at pike. Pours brown with a light tan head. Notes of pine and dark roasted malts in the flavor and aroma. Notes of spice. Was more like a winter warmer + stout. Clean medium bodied palate.

Pour is a almost black with a small white head. Aroma is chocolate malt with some deep roast but also a nice hop. Flavor is more of the roasted malt with a surprisingly hoppy backbone. Finish is a little sweet and bitter. Decent winter warmer. None of the flavors really overpowers the other but they are all there.
