Lovingly referred to by Fremonters as the B-BOMB, this bourbon barrel-aged edition of our winter ale has a warming spicy aroma and rich carmelly notes of bourbon, wood and vanilla added to dark roasty chocolatey malt flavors and subtle hopping.

2014. Dark black body, medium sized tan head, spotty lacing. Bold chocolate, roast, bourbon, oak, vanilla, fudge, and caramel. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, slick carbonation, mild booze, big finish.

Tap at Fremont Brewing, Seattle. Colour is black with small brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, chocolate, bourbon and roasted malts. Not overly bourboned.

Draft at GABBF, first beer of the fest: Poured an almost black with tan color head. Aroma was huge vanilla, stick bourbon and caramel malts. My mouth was filled with that amazing vanilla/bourbon mix, sweet caramel/chocolate malts, and nice strong alcohol. No wonder why it won the winter warmer award at the event, truly my highlight that weekend.

Bomber shared at home. Poured black with a dark tan head of foam that disapeared quickly. Aroma is rich with bourbon and alcohol. Taste is heavy sweetness, lots of malt and bourbon. Full bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation. Very very good!

Flight at brewery. As expected this is another unfathomally over the top booze barrel. Ugh, really can’t even call it a sipper because it’s too off putting. Whatever happened to moderation, please 50/50 blend or something. At least it looks pretty.

Bomber shared by Levi - thanks! Very dark dense cola pour with a light beige head. Rich bourbon and vanilla. Licorice. Smooth rich palate. Killer brew!

2013 edition. Poured from a bomber into a Fremont goblet on 07.15.14. A: Chocolate, licorice, red grape, and dark cherry. Wow! A: Midnight black body with a little bit of red at the bottom of the glass. Slight tan head that fizzes and recedes to a ring. T: Dark cherry, vanilla, and red grape dominate. Chocolate, slight woodiness, raisin, and spices are subtle. P: Creamy smooth. Perfectly medium chewy. O: This lives up to the hype. It has some alcohol heat, loads of dark fruit, and it’s perfectly balanced. I became a Fremont fanboy after this. Everyone has their own palate, but this one is at the top of the heap for me. Simply amazing!

Wonderful. Maybe a tad longer, a month or two in the cellar would add a little to it, but it is great now. Smooth dark ale. Nice balance of spice and bourbon. --- RATED
