From tap at Brouwers. Pours hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild butterish and toffee caramelish. Sweet, vanilla and solid toffee caramelish malty. Sweet and lingering into a smooth caramelish finish. Mild alcohol burn.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2012 Pours almost purple, dark color with some head retention. Smell is candy sugar, spicy, fruity. Taste is not as good as the smell, a bit artificial, medicinal. Better than Snugglybunny, but not that great

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Big nose of wood, bourbon and strong roast malt. Sweet in flavor with lots of bourbon and good woody flavors. Very sweet and intense high alcohol brew. This is one killer beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap for Hard Liver ’12, pours a murky dark orangey brown with a small tan head. Aroma of syrup, heaps of caramel, liqueur-covered fruits and licorice. Flavour is sugary sweet with syrup, brown sugar, caramel and candied sugar. Better than the nose suggests, but too sweet for me.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at Hard Liver (2012 vintage)
Pour: Dark brown, nearly black and a small off white head.
Nose: Sweet, dark fruits, vanilla, caramel, fudge, coconut, and sweet malts. The bourbon in this beer smells outstanding.
Taste: This is incredible. I think the blend of the base beer and it’s BA self is perfect. Subtle hints of vanilla, chocolate, fudge, and toasted coconut come out and play along with the beautiful dark fruits, caramel, and toffee from the base beer. Perfect.
Mouthfeel: Great again. It is heavier but not overly heavy and really decently creamy at the end.
Overall: This won the Fest for me. I really enjoyed this and hope they brew it again or bottle it! Amazing. Fremont continues to impress me with everything they do. They know how to barrel age.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Brouwer’s Hard Liver ’12. Pours deep, dark brown (nearly black), with a small head. Ripe fruit drenched in caramel on the nose. Slightly tart note in the aroma. It’s a bit hot, but given the ABV, this is remarkably smooth. It has a great, full flavor -- this was my pick of the fest. Great work by the guys at Fremont!
