Opaque black color, small beige-brown head. Lots of coffee, some dark candy in the aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Coffee, salt licorice, roasted maltyness. As always, oat makes stouts smooth. This is very pleasant oatmeal stout.

Sample at the brewery taproom. This brew pours brownish-black with a medium foamy tan head that recedes slowly. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of burnt malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

CaN, at work while washing kegs .. . Dark black .. Awesome cream foam .. . Dark roast, tar, creamed toast, and black gums .. . Perfectly balanced and utterly homicidal. Great beer! .. . . Why was vanilla ice so popular? You people forget about chocolate..? even strawberry is acceptable!?!

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is black (almost opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted/burnt grain, coffee, unsweetened chocolate), lightly hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with a note of charcoal, light note of blackberry. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, creamy/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Well shucks, this is pretty darn nice...it’s a roast bomb to some degree, very charred and coffee-ish, but there are some other subtleties in there as well so it’s pretty fun to sniff. And in the mouth it works well too...good balance and mouthfeel, enjoyable to drink. Has some minor rough edges and it isn’t terribly exciting or full of depth, but it’s a solid stout (I might not call this an Imperial stout, but no matter).

Inky black pour with a lush foamy khaki head. Roasty earthy and semisweet nose with a dark pseudo chocolate tone. Big flavor with oat smoothness, deep earthy chocolate, a semisweet black roastiness and a calm stouty black malt finish. A bit simplistic but tasty all the same.
