Named after Fremontís most famous outdoor sculpture, Waiting for the Interurban, Interurban India Pale Ale offers the adventurous beer lover a warm embrace of organic Gambrinus roasted pale malt swirled with a hand-selected blend of flavor malts and filled with the rich spice of Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops. Interurban India Pale is a session beer, eminently drinkable throughout the year.

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy orange gold with a medium frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet bready malts with soft fruit and grassy, fruity, piney hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malts with light fruit and grassy resiny hops with good bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a nice sweet fruity IPA with good bitterness.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, rocky, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of souring vegetable matter (celery, yellow squash), hint of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Gosh darn it. At first pour and for a couple minutes thereafter, I was thinking this was high 3s for sure. But therein lies the problem with rating from small samples or doing quick reviews for any reason. Problems rarely reveal themselves right away. And here we have an initial strong hop aroma that seems nice enough on the surface (I donít like the resinous hop character, but the apricot-grapefruit notes make it tolerable). As that settles down (after the massive, beautiful head finally recedes somewhat), out comes this sour vegetable juice odor. I wouldnít say DMS, this is more raw and maybe just from poor malt extraction, but either way vegetal odors do not bode well in any kind of beer (the mild butter and vitamin B notes donít help either). It never quite overpowers the hops, thankfully, but once it shows up to the party it just wonít leave, and I no longer enjoy sniffing it. Great flavor balance, appearance, and mouthfeel, though...non-abrasive bitterness with no astringency, which most American IPAs cannot boast. It couldíve been a high-scoring beer if sampled briefly at a beer tasting with 50 other people sharing the bottle.

Yum! Citrus/pine aromatics, bracing bitterness, hints of smooth sweet malt. This is what Sierra Nevada tasted like to me before I fried too many taste buds with DIPAs. Love it. Probably follow it with a DIPA. Iím so predictable.

This is a fantastic IPA, even in a can. Piney, spicy, and hoppy without going overboard.

From 330ml can at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki (thanks George). Pale golden color with white head. Aroma is mostly hoppy, floral, grassy, fruity (pineapple?) and light malty. Taste is more malty, sweet and light bitter hoppy fruity again. Light to medium body, oily, average carbonation.

Bomber in Seattle. This is one balanced IPA, without being too boozy or bitter. Taste is pine, citrus and hops. Pure and simple. Well done.

"Spice and pine abound. Really nice, really fresh iPa in a can. Liked it more and more with each sip, enough so that this place is on the radar of possible future visits."
