4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Many thanks to GT2 2013 bottle Black pour, tan head, webby lacing. Aroma is crazy. Cinnamon, gram cracker crust, dark silky chocolate, vanilla. Taste is drinking chocolate, cinnamon, fresh whipped cream. The bourbon comes through nicely and is not overwhelming. Nice dark chocolate bitterness with a bit of sweetness and booziness creates a wonderfully balanced palate. Absolutely wonderful. Much better than the 2012 version. Gimme more.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle with huge thanks to glkaiser, not only for sending it to me, but for pointing out that I was an idiot not to already have it on my wants list! Scary thing is that this precious gem fell out of my fridge a week ago and landed right on the wax top. It blew all the wax off, but the cap seal remained intact, and I let it settle till now. Little did I know how blessed I was that it didnít shatter. Anyway. Pours opaque black with a medium creamy black head that sticks around and leaves very nice lacing. Aroma tells you immediately that you are in for a treat - bourbon, chocolate, molasses, roastiness, dates all mingled together. Flavor is rich, decadent, only light to medium sweet with an offsetting medium bitterness. Lots of bourbon and wood, but not overpowering. Rich and chocolatey, with only a very light astringence. This really came together well, with all the notes playing a beautiful melody with no harsh edges sticking out anywhere. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. One of my all time favorite beers. Moar.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black in color. It has a thick, creamy, tan-colored head with constallation lacing. The head descipated rather quickly. The aroma has a hint of bourbon. The aroma also consist of vanilla and a bitter dark chocolate. There is a banana aroma that is hidden in the beer. There is a bitter sweet finish. This is a full-bodied beer with an oily texture. The carbonation is average. There is the taste of alcohol present but not overpowering. The oats in the beer makes it really heavy in the stomach as if it were making you full like eating a whole meal. I was pleasantly suprised with this beer. A good beer to have if it is cold out because it warms you inside.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
2012. Dark pour, bubblicious tan lace recedes somewhat quickly. Smells like bourbon and caramelized sugar. Soft, smooth bourbon notes on the palate. Chocolate has faded significantly, and this still suffers from Central Waters Syndrome (aka no body) pretty badly.

A: Dark Brown Hue, Passes Very Little Light, Brown Head Ring, Some Lacing
S: Bourbon, Oatmeal
T: Oatmeal, Bourbon
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium to Full Bodied, Boozy
Overall, I thought the taste was a little thin and the nose was better than the taste.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fremont bourbon barrel Dark Star oatmeal stout. The base stout is superb. Chocolatey, slightly sweet, not roasty, and I think I'm getting cherries in there too. The bourbon flavor adds a nice touch but is just a tad too strong. B+

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap @ the Urban Beer Garden. Pours pitch dark brown with thin oily brown head. Aroma is heavy bourbon, some chocolate, and a little coffee. Taste is thick dark chocolate malt with a smooth creamy oatmeal body. Just enough hops to balance, though they fade quickly as the velvety chocolate body persists through the finish. Just bigger and better than the regular Dark Star. Sweet, oaky, boozy bourbon dominates throughout. In a good way. I suppose to be fair, this could use some bottle time to mellow out a bit, but itís super tasty now anyway.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pitch black and oily almost identical to dark star. Minor head. Overwhelming vanilla surge on the nose with some milk chocolate. Velvety sweet and loads of sweetness in the taste from start to finish abv feels and tastes more like 13%. Almost a less thick bcbs in every way including in the sweetness. Thereís some gingerbread, and oatmeal chocolate cookies. Itís very interesting but very drinkable. Although, Iíll probably share this bomber with a buddy and not take it on solo. Very sweet

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 2013 edition, fresh from the brewery an hour ago. For the record, 2013ís version has been renamed to bourbon barrel aged dark star (BBADS?) and clocks in at 11%. Anyway, pours extremely dark brown, opaque and with a creamy tan head that eventually dissipates to nothing. Aroma is straight bourbon - vanilla, oak, char, with just enough chocolate to convince you youíre about to drink a beer. Taste: bourbon, complete with big boozy alcohol burn. Chocolate sweetness, some roast bitterness that gives way to a big boozy lingering alcohol finish. Slick, oily texture. Full body, average carbonation. Overall: bourbon bomb. Which is fine because I like bourbon, but comes in pretty hot.
