Our Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in 15 year old single use Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. The roasted and chocolate malts compliment the smooth oats to bring you a stout delight wrapped in gentle embrace of Bourbon Barrel aged warmth. A touch of sweetness dances in balance with the hops to finish with a wave and then she’s gone.

Down & Dirty: 2-Row, Roast Barley, Crystal-60, Chocolate, & Carafa-2 malts with Flaked Oats and Magnum, Wilamette & Cascade hops. 9.5% ABV

Rating #2000. 2015 vintage crazy wax-dipped bomber. ABV is 14.5% ABV, not 9.5% (quite a difference there!). This used to be the top-rated beer in Washington state. Looks like Bourbon Barrel Coffee Cinnamon Abominable has those honors now. Aroma is coconut, vanilla, wood, licorice, soy sauce, raisin, molasses. Pours black with brown edges and a finger-width dark tan head with decent retention; laces a little. Taste is sweet and roasty barrel-aged goodness with strong licorice flavor. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied. Really good, but I can see why that Abominable variant took over as numero uno.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with a creamy brown head. Aroma is boozy, roasted malts, bourbon. Flavor is much smoother, with huge bourbon and vanilla notes on top of a nice roasted malt background. Creamy, smooth, but a bit thin. Overall a very nice beer!

Rust-brown head, soon reduced to rim over near-black beer. Rich, velvety chocolate & Bourbon nose, some vanilla, sweet-smelling. Sweet-strong, alcoholic, vanilla and Bourbon, overroasted candi apples, gravy roast. Burning MF, very viscous, feels better carbonated than it looks. Rich, but not really refined.

How: Bottle (22 oz) at tasting. From Lurkaholic, thanks!

>>> Another big beer from Fremont that is truly killing it. It’s extremely flavorful and complex, well balanced, endowed with a nice mouthfeel and it’s truly enjoyable.

+ Beautiful beer, pitch black with a medium thick brown head, very good retention and some lacing
+ A luscious combination of fudge/dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, molasses and even almonds gives this beer a fantastic aroma
+ Despite being a tiny bit hot, the beer as enough sweetness to support the alcohol and not enough to start being cloying
+ Palate is rich and world-class with a full body, moderate carbonation, thick, oily and silky mouthfeel as well as a nice warming finish
This one isn’t on the same level than the amazing Coffee + Bourbon version, but it held up really well in our tasting against a bunch of hyped RIS including TG Assassin.

Flavors: Fudge, bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate almonds, molasses

Bottle shared. Black pour with thick creamy brown foam. Aroma is super rich, quite perfumy, lots of vanilla, bourbon, tons of chocolate. Taste is sweet, bourbony, tons of vanilla, sweet but not cloying, nice roastiness. Full bodied palate, mouth coating but not sticky, really impressive.
