Aroma of bourbon soaked fudge. Pours a thick black with a short lived tan head and fine abundant lacing. The taste is wonderful! Bourbon, chocolate, toasted malts, with a touch of bitterness in the finish and a grainy aftertaste. Extremely smooth full bodied mouthfeel accompanied by soft carbonation. Overall, while expensive, it was a real pleasure to taste. Very very easy to drink. EXCELLANT!

Draught at the brewery, 11/8/15.
Tan head tops an ebony body with lighter mahogany edges and a seemingly moderate clarity (though thereís no light to hold it up to).
Bourbon and oak are noted right away in the nose, but they arenít obnoxious and thereís a quick follow up of light prunes and burnt caramel/toffee. Vanilla, mild but noticeable alcohol, and a good balance of roast, bourbon and chocolate notes. The hops are noticeable too, adding light orange and even some lightly dank, more resinous notes.
Bourbon is light in the flavor, thankfully, with soft, silky oak and wood notes pitted against a more oily, but chewy roasted barley and oat-like texture. A lightly salty, somewhat burnt caramel character is noted in the flavor, as well, and is absolutely stunning. Good attenuation on the beer keeps it drinkable, for its size and it ends without any cloy/syrup or general heaviness. Very nice, and very flavorful without being overdone. Glad they had it available, as Iíd wanted to try it for a long time.

Milestone type beer for a non milestone occasion. Seems to work out that way a lot. I actually thought I had rated this already. Surprised for sure. Draft 6 oz pour at the brewery. Thatís all they offer you these days. I remember a while back when they offered 20 oz pours of this stuff. Of course it was sub 10% back then, and itís now 14.5%. Time to update that. Thatís no small difference. In the weather world that would be like twenty degrees off. Iíll do my best to never compare the two ever again. The beer Pours a cola black with almost no head. Huge bourbon chocolate aroma. Flavor is full of rich chocolate and smooth bourbon, and a huge oaky finish. Comes off as strong up frony, but smooths out nicely late. Prime sipping beer here. I keep bouncing back and forth in my head on whether I love Fremonts hoppy beers or their heavy beers. I always lean towards the hop sode, but this beer is a clear.stand out from most others. This beer stacks up with some of the whales in.my opinion. Awesome awesome awesome. Awesome.
