3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A big imperial ipa with a gorgeous Aroma. Taste is is quite nice with a big complex malt bill as well as a big hoppy bitterness to balance... Unfortunately too bitter as it slaps you in the face and then kicks you in the ass on the way out... Tone down the hops and this baby is a gem!

Bottle brought to bottle share from Safeway in Ephrata, WA. Nice to know you can get superb stuff at Safeway! A hit of hops was what was needed after sampling sours, stouts and ciders all evening, and this did not disappoint. Typical big bold NW IIPA, but right on target for palate adjustment.

12 oz can packaged it looks like 7/20/15. Says the IBUs are at 1 billion. Prompts a good laugh. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Good amount of citrus on the nose with some passion fruit/mango notes in there as well. Medium mouthfeel. Bitter flavor with some grapefruit rind and a hint of nail polish. Pretty dry finish. The abv doesn’t show too much. Nice.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2015 Can from The Beer Shoppe in Yakima.
Aroma: Expansive piney and grassy hop and passion fruit plus tropical fruit.
Palate: Lively carbonation accentuates the piney hop flavor and bittering without going overboard.
Flavor: Pine and grass attack with full on passion fruit, apricot and tropical fruit onslaught.
Comment: Big malty body is well matched with the hop flavor bitterness. This succeeds and I prefer it to Fremont’s Pale Ale and IPA which IMO have a few problems.
