Family always comes first. Just when you thought that your poor tongue couldn’t stand any more humulus lupulus, The Sister comes home to prove you wrong. Using the same unbreakable malt backbone of The Brother to balance out a truckload of Calypso and Bravo hops, The Sister weighs in at approximately a billion IBUs.

Down & Dirty: 2-Row, Wheat, Vienna & Dextrapils malts with Amarillo, Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, Calypso & Bravo hops. 8.5% ABV

Nice and big like the brother but better balance of the hops and a gorgeous Aroma with a beautiful head and lace. However the flavor of the hops is really off putting unless you enjoy medicinal characters in beer... Which I do not.

Beautiful rich hazy golden amber body. Decent finger of white head. Settles into cloud city, but laces the side like arsenic and old-. Nose is spicy... dank piney, resinous, some tropical fruit notes lurking in between the lines. Floral augments along the piping and fluting. Bitter for sure no doubt. Pine bitter. Pithy citrus. A little sweet floral around the edges, and a nice supportive malt backbone. Citrus is as citrus does. Bluntly bitter while also being balanced and... I’ve run out of ’B’ words.

651 ml. bottle. Bottled 03/12/15. Pours a medium, gradually dissipating, ivory head, with slight lacing, over a slightly hazy light amber (SRM 7) body......nose is citrus, pine, resin, pear, apple, from the hops, light cereal from the malts, balance to the hops.....taste is slightly sweet, with pear, apple notes, light anise, tropical fruits, primarily citrus, tinged with hints of pineapple, light cereal malts, finishing with a moderate bitterness, balance to the hops.....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, mild alcohol warmth present, carbonation adds a slightly creamy texture. This is a wonderful display of the panoply of aromas and flavor in the varieties of American hops. The malt backbone is relatively hidden and needs some minor tweaking with the addition of more toasted (higher lovibond) malts. BJCP 9/3/16/4/7

Lots of citrus peel here. Pours golden amber with good head. Finish is pretty bitter. Quite a big malt backbone here.

22 oz Bottle. Tasted on 5/29/15. Bottle from Moore Liquor. Drank from Spiegal IPA glass. Definitely a NW IPA with a slightly funk or dank aroma to it. Taste is slightly sweet on the from followed by a good bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
