Fremont is the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe” and Universale, our flagship product, honors the namesake of our unique location. Universale Pale Ale offers a distinctive Northwest twist on the classic pale ale, using a select blend of organic Gambrinus pale roasted malt and Old World malts balanced with classic Northwest hops to achieve a heavenly beer of rich malt flavor and subtle hop spice. This brew pours a mostly clear dark orange color with a medium bone white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace on the glass. The aroma is hoppy with some pale malt behind it. Light body with flavors of biscuit malt, citrus and mildly bitter hops. The finish is fruity with a short hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Tap at Fremont, Seattle - 08/11/12. Clear pale golden with a thin white head that soon clears to the edge and forms a pond. This retains well and good lacing ensues. Nose carries floral tones, light malt, touch of citrus, perfumed. Taste of floral hops, pale malts, grain, a little citrus. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a light bitter finish. Ok drinkable fayre - nowt special.

Can poured into snifter. Med amber color, 1 finger white head, leaves irreg lacing. Hop, citrus aroma. Crisp hint of roasty grains meets citrus and is immediately followed by hop bitterness that dominates the finish. Refreshing NW pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Medium clear golden, white head that leaves delicate lace. Aroma is light citrus and biscuity malt. Sessionable palate of slightly sweet biscuity malts and perfumey citrus hops, in nice balance. Just a nice sit-&-chill beer.
