COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fremont is the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe” and Universale, our flagship product, honors the namesake of our unique location. Universale Pale Ale offers a distinctive Northwest twist on the classic pale ale, using a select blend of organic Gambrinus pale roasted malt and Old World malts balanced with classic Northwest hops to achieve a heavenly beer of rich malt flavor and subtle hop spice. This is beer. Enjoy.

Can from Mile High. The body on this is a light amber with some hop haze and a really tall, explosive, rocky white head. The aroma is grassy with supporting notes of orange and lime. Palate is fizzy and has a reasonable, sugary malt body. It’s very appropriate for the style. Hops are the first thing noticed in the flavor with hints at lawn clippings, lemon and orange. Finish is bittersweet and just a touch metallic. This is not a bad pale ale by any stretch, but it’s my least favorite Fremont beer so far. It seems like they have a really strong catalog.

Sampler pack from a dude from the brewery, supposedly.. . Biscuit, hay, mild centennial, and dry grass .. Easy mouth, dry finish for a pale .. Good pale, but I liked the 77 so much better. .. . Betty white once ate a pot brownie and banged a tree stump.

On draft at the brewery. Golden pour, with a slight haze. Crisp and citrusy, crackers, grapefruit, and some mild caramel. Easy drinking, pretty nice pale ale.

Bottle, from the in-laws at Xmas. Sort of forgot about this, otherwise I would have cracked it a month ago… not that it matters once I see the date stamped on the neck… bottled 01/14/13. It’s 25 months old! Pops with plenty of carb, pours a clear copper color and is topped with a thick finger of creamy beige head. Tons of sheet lacing. The nose is lively with floral and pine, a tiny bit of grass. Mostly floral hops in the taste with minimal grassy notes. The malt presence is sturdy, but it doesn’t overshadow the hops. Rating is based on the taste today, wow this has aged gracefully, but I’ll look for this fresh…

Draft at GABBF: Poured a hazy yellowed with white head. Aroma is nice crisp hops that follow into the flavor. Also nice balance with the malts to make a very nice drinking pale ale.

12 oz can. Really nice fresh hops aroma. Flavor has a good balance of malt and hops, all in a light, easy drinking pale. Malt has a very cereal like flavor. Grassy hops presence all throughout. Pretty good beer to drink all day. Finishes a little on the sweet side. Overall, a pretty good pale here here.

Awesome-looking 12-oz can. Pours a pale goldenrod color, thick pearly head, good lacing. Aroma is grassy hops with some hay and cereal malt notes. Flavor is a perfect blend of grassy hops up front with a great backbone of malt. It doesn’t knock you out, but it’s very drinkable. Overall an excellent pale ale.

Hops: Columbus, Centennial, Cascade and Simcoe. Malts: Pale, Special Aromatic, and Victory. Poured from a can into a tumbler on 12.27.13. A: See through golden. 1 finger fluffy head that retains well. S: Delicious citrus, pine. Fantastic! T: Pine, citrus, flower. Malt is there as a base. M: Crisp. Perfect carbonation. O: This was the first APA that I had ever tried and it blew me away. This beer changed my view of what beer could taste like. I expected a lip-puckering "bitter beer face" bitterness but what I got instead was a wash of pine and citrus. It pushed me to challenge my tastebuds and explore other beer styles. This beer is my first love.

12 oz. can from Supermarket Liquors. Appearance: 2 fingers white head, golden color, straw color, clear, good lacing. Aroma: citrus, floral, light wheat, caramel. Palate: light body, sticky texture, dry and bitter finish, average carbonation.: Taste: sweet caramel and light wheat into citrusy bitter hops finish. Overall, nothing amazing, but well done in sticking with the basics.
