Fremont is the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe” and Universale, our flagship product, honors the namesake of our unique location. Universale Pale Ale offers a distinctive Northwest twist on the classic pale ale, using a select blend of organic Gambrinus pale roasted malt and Old World malts balanced with classic Northwest hops to achieve a heavenly beer of rich malt flavor and subtle hop spice. Can poured into snifter. Med amber color, 1 finger white head, leaves irreg lacing. Hop, citrus aroma. Crisp hint of roasty grains meets citrus and is immediately followed by hop bitterness that dominates the finish. Refreshing NW pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the 12th Man. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a light sweet citrus note with some sweet grains and a touch of bitterness. Flavor has sweet grains and bread with a growing but light citrus note.

It’s a good drinking beer but there’s not very much character to it, either in aroma or flavor.

651 ml. bottle. Bottled 11/17/14. Pours a medium, well retained, tiny bubbled off white head, with moderate lacing, over a clear, gold (SRM 6) body.....nose is toasted malts, with hints of biscuit, light pine, citrus from the hops, no esters, balanced.....taste is mild toasted malts, bread, light pine, slight citrus notes, no esters, balanced....mouth feel, medium body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is a clean, crisp, easy drinking beer. Unfortunately both the hops and malts are a bit muted, with the hop backbone being especially quiet. This is most probably due to the age of the bottle, but perhaps the hop selection. American Pale Ales are supposed to be hop dominated, and this one is not. BJCP 6/3/13/4/6
