I put my thang in this one. Swilred it around. tasted it. Thought it was about as drinkable as a drink gets and then decided that I probably won’t ever drink it again. But it won’t bad.

Draft at the Durham World Beer Festival. Clear gold with a small white head. Nice biscuity nose and flavor, malty, spicy hops. Solid.

On tap at Barley’s. Creamy off-white head with moderate retention on top of a caramel-colored body. It had a slightly biscuity malt aroma with some crisp hops. The flavor was nice and malty with plenty of herbal hops to back it up, especially in the finish. Very tasty!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewery. Nice pale gold color with good carbonation and light head. The aroma was nutty and sharp with soapy hints. Flavor was better than the aroma with nutty bitterness, very light malted grain holding it together. Mostly nutty spicy hops though. Medium dryish body. Not a bad ESB but seemed more like a pale ale.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
draught. Pours a dirty orange hue with a pretty good white head. I don’t smell a whole lot on this one, some faint malts and bark. This is definitely an esb, I discover after tasting. It’s quite biting with some mild plasticity and the malts are not all that full or sweet. There’s a little orange peel in the mix and tree bark.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Growler from the brewery--pours a soft copper color with a small froathy head, medium carbonation. Leaves a smalll amount of lacing on the glass. A mix of aromas, first malt then as the glass is drunk the hop aroma takes over. Mouth feel and taste is hoppy, more so than other ESBs.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A good example of a bitter. Good color, aroma and hoppy finish. Touches of malt flavors in the taste. All-in-all a pleasing beer to drink.
