Bomber. Deep brown body. Frothy, beige head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Tartness in finish. Taste of coffee and roasted malts along with cardboard. Lingering bitterness and a lingering off-taste of soy sauce. Lots of better porters out there.

4/30/15. 22oz bottle from Bird Dog. Dark brown pour with a small tan head, great lacing. A quaffable session porter? Buzzwords? Itís 6% - seems normal to me. Or were they referencing the drinkability? Oh well, here goes. Nice aroma, biscuit, toasty, light nuttiness, lots of chocolate. Tons of chocolate in the flavor, caramel, biscuit, lots of lingering toastiness, maybe some nuttiness? I sense some diacetyl on the tongue, but itís not unwelcome in this case. Not a bad brewski.

French Broad Anvil Porter has a thin, beige head, a dark brown, almost black, appearance, and very little lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of dark malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is of the same with some caramel, a bit of char, and brown bread crust. Bitterness is relatively low. The mouthfeel is rather watery, and French Broad Anvil Porter finishes powdery and easily drinkable. Guinness Extra Stout is a much better value, but this is nice, anyway. RJT

This 22 oz bottle was sent to me by Strykzone. Thanks Dave. Poured a very deep red that looked nearly black. Light tan head with good retention and nice lacing. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Medium body. The flavor is well balanced between the coffee and chocolate. Earthy finish. Very nice overall.

Dark brown pour with an off-white head. The aroma has quite a bit of chocolate as well as some roasted malt and a hint of mint. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of chocolate as well a hint of roasted malt. The flavor is very sweet overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Warner Robins, Ga. - Lazy Dog Growler - 22 oz bomber. Dark black pour with some ruby red/purple tints, tight mocha colored head. Aroma has some nice topsoil accents, a touch of bittersweet bakerís chocolate. Good solid everyday porter flavor with some nice topsoil accents, a touch of unsweetened chocolate, a touch of nuttiness and just a hint of licorice in the back end. Mouthfeel has a nice chalky presence to it. Pretty decent.

Bottle. This porter smells and tastes a littel sour and the body is a bit thin for my liking. That said its not bad a a great deal.
