poured into snifter. pours a clear gold with mild head, aroma is relatively mild, this Barly has a very sessionable quality to it, expecially for the high Alchohol, but a good grab and a good name

Butters (3014) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 1, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Pours clear orange amber with great white lacing. Aroma is sweet honey. Flavor has a syrupy honey hoppiness. With a resiny hop finish. Pretty tasty, especially for hiding the abv, it was way to easy to drink.

clear dark amber, frothy beige head settles down to leave thick lace in its wake, sweet fruity aroma that showed alcohol at first but it disapates, creamy body, rich dark caramel malt flavor, bready character enrichens the malt, lots of fruity character, some nice sweetness comes in with the fruit character and then fades as it is replaced by a long earthy bitter finish, a touch of alcohol esters at first but almost fades away, the creamy body combined with the fruity flavor is what makes this barley wine special,

CaptainCougar (6834) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 11, 2007
Sampled from a growler: Pours a transparent dark bronze copper with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Mild aroma of sweet caramel malt and a hint of light fruits. Body starts fairly full and viscous with some sweet caramel malt and earthy, sticky bittering hops. Finishes slightly warming and bittersweet. A decent barleywine, but sort of in-between the English and American style.

goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - APR 11, 2007
Poured a mostly clear golden amber color with a thin head. Malty with light hops, light fruitiness and light alcohol. Some diacetyl. Malty and fruity with some hops and alcohol bitterness on the finish. Pretty light for a barleywine. Thin finish,

on tap-pours an off white head that laces and amber color. Aroma is medium fruit-berries, medium malt-sweet. Taste is sweet-syrupy, alcohol. Quickly turns dry, acrid, bitter. OK carbonation.
