Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body encircled by a ring of beige-colored bubbles. Smell: It’s a hybrid! Alien scents of malted coriander, earthy brown sugar, sauteed fruits, yeast and dried citrus peel. Taste: Brown malts with nutty brown sugar and a mild sweetness. Molasses-coated coriander. Hint of fruit. Some spicy, citrusy hints. Not much bitterness. A malty, mangled finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A nice idea, but, in all honesty, I’d rather just have either the white or the dunkel.

Walnut colored clear pour with no head. Light wheat aroma with caramel and touch of yeast. Very light though. The flavor has wheat malt, caramel and roasted grain. Nothing too complex but it’s good. A bit thin/watery body. Fair but quite drinkable.

Courtesy Beerlando. Dark chestnut brown color. Toasted dark bread and sweet malts, almost a mild sourish note on the nose. Clean toasty malt taste, slight caramel notes, clean finish. Nice brew, very clean, but perhaps too subtle.

Bottle courtesy Durhambeer. Pours a reddish chocolate brown. The aroma is nice, chocolate malts and hints of citrus hops. Nice creamy body with chocolate malt and balance with hints of orange and dark fruit. A very good offering.

Pours a clear chocolate brown color with a small, frothy, off-white head. Skinny, jagged lines of lacing mark the glass. The aroma is very creamy and soft, caramelized brown sugar, figs, and raisons providing lightly sweet, fruity notes. Hints of chocolate and candied orange peel lend further depth, while fresh, soft wheat lays the foundation. Flavors are very similar, like a really solid dunkel that’s been softened considerably by a crisp, citrusy Wit. Feels much lighter than 7.5%. Medium bodied and a touch over carbonated, the finish is on the dry side. Overall, this is a pretty nice little experiment.

650 ml. Unclouded mahogany with a large, lasting head and Jack Frost all over the glass. Coffee, cocoa, citrus peel, banana and ash aromas. Flavors of coffee, lemon bread, dark chocolate, chalk, banana, tobacco and char. Medium body is slightly watery, tingly with acidity and low-medium carbonation, and roasty-dry on the finish. Much better than expected; kudos to French Broad for this nice experiment!
