COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While known for their lagers, German brewers also produce terrific ales. French Broad’s Kölsch is faithful to the great German ales found in Köln. Golden in color, with a refreshing crispness, pleasantly sweet malt finish, and distinctive German hopping.

Pale yellow and fizzy in appearance, this is surprisingly flavorful, with notes of honey and a clean, brisk finish. This is a bit of an eccentric beer, but there is definitely a place for it, especially in the summertime.

Yellow pour with visible active carbonation and a slight filmy white head. Aroma is of hay and grass. Light body. Strong flavor of yeast, hay and funk. Slight spice on the back end. Crisp finish. Tastes good enough but pretty ordinary.

Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Light golden pour, slightly hazy, good bubble action, crisp, sticky white head that leaves a nice film of lacing. Pleasant, hoppy aroma with some grassy notes. Flavor has some buttery accents with a brief hint of nuttiness. Mouthfeel is just a bit muddled, but does not ruin it. Very solid Kölsch.

Bottle. Pours a light golden color. Nice summer type beer. Not my favorite style, but I really enjoyed this one.

Bottle at Paul’s: Light hazy yellow with an enormous expanding white head (I initially thought it was an infected bottle) The aroma is dry, chalky and crackery with some crackery notes. Has a light fluffy body. Some dry chalky phenols with a crackery pils-malt presence. Not as clean as a Kolsh should be, but still a sessionable, light ale.

Bomber from the brewery. Pours a light golden clear with a massive almost exploding white head- somewhat lasting- not tight a bit bubbly some lace. Aroma is on the herbal and grassy side, quite highly hopped- decent crackery malts- a bit off. Flavor is crisp and clean malts, some crackery some pils, moderate to high herbal hints, grassy hops, light spice- carbonation is a bit too high. I thought it was going to be infected but it wasn’t, it was a decent beer just doesn’t fit quite into the kolsch category.

Not exactly my favorite brew. Aroma was slightly fruity with a note or two of hops. flavor was very light without much at all. A fine brew to drink in the summertime while mowing the lawn

Very light yellow appearance. Thin white head. Apricot aroma at first sniff with apples later. Nice aroma. Slight bitterness to the aftertaste. White grapes and apricot flavor. Palate is subtle and doesn’t linger. A very light brew and a good example of a Kolsch if you like this style. Too light for my taste buds.

pours clear golden, white head with floating elements Aroma funky with some spices and light malts. Flavor, bitter palate yeasty and reminiscent of a saison. Light spicy finish with hints of citrus and apple.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours clear gold with straw hues and white head. The aroma is sweet with fruity esters and floral hops as well as rose pedals and grains. The taste is a bit on the bright side with spice and acidity followed by a shallow hollow graininess.
