It poured a clear orange color with a white head. The aroma was of toffee, grass, pine, orange and tangerines. The taste was of grass, pine, citrus notes, a hint of caramel and biscuit. Nice.

Draft at brewery during RBWG. Pours a clear dark golden to amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have what I would expect in a basic IPA; some resiny, earthy and mild citrus hops with toasted malt and light caramel. Mild bitterness to the finish.

22 oz bottle served in a snifter. A: amber color; clear with modest size off-white head. The head is exceptionally sticky and leaves great lacing. There’s plenty of grapefruit and orange in both the aroma and the taste. The malt is more evident in the nose, and implied by the tempered bitterness in the taste. The beer is, nonetheless, rather bitter, with a lingering grapefruit rind flavor in the aftertaste. Alcohol is not hidden at all. M: smooth; very good carbonation level; medium body; semi-dry finish. O: a solid if rather unremarkable IPA. Enough hop load to satisfy hop heads. {From 2012 notes}

Taster at French Broad- thanks again! Pours a clear gol color with a small, wispy head that leaves a little film. Very clean. Grass, florals, pale malts, orange peel, and straw. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a bitter, clean mouthfeel. Simple, nice IPA.

Draft from sampler during the RBWG bus tour. Poured a thinner clear amber under a smaller foamy white head. Aroma of grains and toast, citrus rind, grapefruit, earth, and dry hop cones. Smooth body, medium mouthfeel, with light carbonation. Flavor of citrus, yellow grapefruit, earth, rotting citrus and cat piss. Odd I got that in the flavor but not the aroma but this was sbout 4 hours into the bus tour. Overall good stuff.

Taster on tap at Barley’s during RBWG 2014. Clear orange red color. Thin off-white head. Leaves good, thicker lace... Full sheets of lace. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Medium to bigger body. Good zesty citrusy taste, moderate to bigger bitter, light sweet. Grapefruit hop. Some good spice. Very impressive, floral, aromatic IPA. Possibly a little too spicy and dry is my only complaint.

Draft at the brewery taproom during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white cap. Decent IPA marked by floral hops, sweet bread and pine. Good balance. Light-medium in body with average carbonation. Lightly sweet on the finish with fine resin, grass and ripening orange. Nice enough.

Bomber from French Broad during RBWG. This is well filtered and copper hued. A little soapy off white head. I smell light onions and resin with tangerine under that. The flavor begins with a bitter bite. It is bready with a big complex hop profile. Those tangerines, tropical fruit. Vegetables are tasted late and dry bitterness after that. The finish was Tropical fruit with dry citrus. It is unusual for an IPA to go through as many changes as this one is and that is just flat out fun. So glad I bought a bomber instead of having a sample. The feel is active and a bit resinous.
