3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
An enjoyable quaff, and probably my favorite from the local brewer here in Asheville. Pours a reddish-copper into the glass, with a wispy foam eggshell head that retains a light cap, leaving sudsy lace. The nose is very woodsy and of deep pine forests. The flavors are of pine resin, appropriately balanced dry biscuit malt, a semi-tart citrusy grapefruit mid-palate, and finishing with a healthy dose of bitter pine needles and rind/zest notes. The mouthfeel is creamy smooth, with great substance and complexity abounding. This is a really nice IPA, and a solid offering from French Broad. A sleeper pick for sure!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Carrboro Beverage. Pours a clean sharp golden amber with one finger of off white head. Some citrus in the nose with a slightly grassy character and some hay, slightly bready. Nice and balance in the flavor, slightly toasted and bready malt character with a slightly citrusy and herbal hop character. Medium bitterness that fades out appropriately and a dry finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear deep gold with a tall, mostly white head.
Clean fresh grapefruit hop aroma, some pine also.
The flavor is lightly bitter that follows all the way into the finish.
Easy drinking, not too complex, but gets the job done.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold pour with off white head and lace. Sweet caramel malt and resiny hops. Sweet malt, breadiness, with a nice resiny bitter finish. Medium bodied and fizzy but still pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewery. Reddish amber with just a little head. There are some nice pine needles worth of woodsy hops in here, making me feel outdoorsy. Tight little IPA -- quite drinkable. (#4328, 10/7/2011)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
An amber IPA with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, light British hops, over biscuitty malt, so-so. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with sweet resinous floral hops, a bit light but nice. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.
