kimcgolf (828), Dacula, Georgia, USA Nov 16, 2009 Pours from the bomber to a hazy copper-orange with thin off-white head that lingers well and leaves okay lacing. Aroma is mostly hoppy citrus and floral, with a hint of malty caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly tingly and just a shade bitter. Taste picks up the fruits of the nose and throws in a little toffee sweet malt. Finish is a fairly long, well rounded blend of the hops and malts.
A nice from a new (for me) brewer. tomthompson89 (1467), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 10, 2009 copperish color, decent foam some sediment, nose is nice and hoppy can smell some rye but hops r prevalent. flavor is hops rye and a bitter astringent finish. not a huge fan drinkable but not one id go back for a second pint sebletitje (1889), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 7, 2009 22oz.
Pours copperish, thick off-white head.
Aroma of rye, hops up front, light malt, hints of spices and pine.
Flavor was surprisingly good. Right balance of hops and rye, and somehow the palate was nicely toasted and malty. Hints of coffee mixed with the rye, adding citrus hops in the finish. Sammy (3971), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2009 Fresh bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours medium yellow, with initial foamy head that settles into lots of lace. Fresh hoppy malty aroma that includes some rye bread. Taste is, with middling mouthfeel, a fairly bitter high IBU ale that is blended with the rye for flavour. Drying finish. Very drinkable.
mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2009 Courtesy mcbackus. Pours a deep amber color, with a small off white head. Smells of hops, rye, grain, and earthiness. The flavor was much the same, you definitely get a bit of that rye in there along with some hop bitterness and malts. Pretty decent drinking brew, but not overly exciting. SoLan (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 18, 2009 Courtesy mcbackus. Dark amber, large white head. Astringent grainy bitterness and some earthy hops. Tough balance. Some toasty malt. Medium, softly balanced, easy to drink. Nice brew save for the mild astringency. GJF (492), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Oct 12, 2009 Good beer. Deep bready malt with a pungent rye background. Finished dry and hoppy. All around drinkable. shp555 (1681), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2009 Pours a deep copper color with a white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, rye, and pungent citrus hops. Flavor is malty, caramel, rye, and a weak bitter citrus finish.
