3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taster on tap at the brewery. Clear burnt orange color. Thin off-white head. Some ropes and dots of lace. Nice caramely malt notes, lightly spicy. Some toasty flavors. Some bitter, moderate sweet taste. Medium to bigger body, lightly slick. Smooth, lighter carbonation, kind of crisp. Solid scotch ale, but not outstanding for the style.

Poured a one-finger head from a bomber. Aroma is carmel and fruit and the taste was pretty much the same. Very good scotch ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
It poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma was of caramel, brown sugar and some dark fruits. The taste was similar with some bready caramelized malt and good carbonation. Nice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2014 22oz. bottle. Mild aroma of toasty, dark caramel malt, some earthiness in the background and touches of dried fruit. Dark coppery-brown in color with a very slight, fading head. Flavor profile is malty, gently sweet, toasty and fruity, some mild earth present here as well, along with a moderate amount of hop bitterness, appearing early on and increasing throughout to the finish, some lingering carrot and dried apricot late. Fine but persistent, sharp effervescence on the palate, which is ultimately dry, and with a medium-full body. Interesting stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber, thanks sevenhokie! Not a lot of aroma, but some roasted and caramel malt. Pours opaque medium brown with a moderate tan head with decent lacing. Caramel malt with some toffee. Finishes smooth with a hint peat coming through at the end. Decent scotch ale, but lacks the depth of flavor.

Can. Coffee aroma or maybe some roast. Fairly bitter aftertaste. Think I like scotch ales better.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can: Poured dark ruby brown color with ample off-white head. Head died slowly leaving good legs. Aroma is mixed light malt and hop (spruce) notes. Taste is slightly sweet, bready, slight roast flavor, with a sharp bittering punch of hops and ending dry with lingering roasted malt flavor. Mouth feel is medium-light, due to ample carbonation and dry finish. OK brew, but not a good example of a Scotch Ale style.
