COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Wee Heavy-er Scotch Ale is based on our Wee Heavy Scotch Ale recipe, but with a little more-er alcohol. This traditional Scotch Lowland ale is one of our most popular brews. Some of you may remember the original Wee-Heavy from the days when North Carolina brewers could not brew beers containing more than 6% ABV. We would like to take a moment and thank the people of Pop-the-Cap for all their hard work. Gold Medal - 2002 World Beer Championships, Chicago

Puts a very deep mahogany color with little head. Drinking out of a bottle during the AU Clemson game. Not as good as the Founders dirty bastard.

I am still uncertain as to what differentiates a Scotch Ale from regular old Brown Ale. I am sure that disqualifies my rating from being of use. Of course, I will proceed anyway. Poured just on the light side of medium brown with a very light head. Malt and notes of burnt coffee in the flavor. Mouthfeel was thin. Bomber - Ingles Supermarket - Brevard, NC

650mL bottle, pours a dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of light brown sugar, some slight whiskey malts, and caramel malts. Flavour is fairly light, with some slightly sweet caramel malts, some light whiskey malts, and some metallic notes. Fairly light-bodied for a scotch ale, with an inoffensive flavour profile. Decent stuff, but pretty weak.

Draft. Pours a dark copper with a sticky off-white head. Smell is toffee notes with some butter, wood and off phenol notes. Taste is toffee, dark fruits, tangy hints. Mouthfeel is full with medium carbonation. Not memorable, but not bad.

Very smooth taste, almost no bitterness. Good color and flavor, but leaves something to be desired.

the first sip feels like you are about to have a hard cider. it then suddenly mellow what with a nice beer with some nuttiness. its palate is smooth and almost creamy.

The aroma is malty with butterscotch, yeast, fruit, and hops. The appearance is hazy amber with a large heard. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is decent.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee, fruittinmess and peat. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors oftoffee, carmel, light fruittiness and light peat with a smooth lingering toffee finish.

Pours a translucent blackish brown from the bottle with thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, vanilla woodiness, and toasted grains. Taste has traditional scotch ale notes with the sweet maltiness and wood, but this one has a lot of roasted malts, almost coffee flavors. Intetesting, but not that good. NC is new to strong beers apparently, and this recipe is an amped version of something that wasn’t that good to start with.
