22 oz. bottle. Hazy, brown pour with lots of little particles floating around and a big off-white head. Very yeasty aroma with some roastyness and sweetness in there as well. Flavor is similar - very sweet. Doesn’t quite highlight the malt like many scotch ales. It’s more of a belgian candy sugar sweetness. Smooth and drinkable though.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a beautiful clear garnet. World class head volume, lacing and retention.
Light nose of caramel with hints of toffee.
Light full bodied with a creamy texture. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is good, but lacks the intensity and complexity to be outstanding. Balance is world class. Basically, you get a blended one dimensional flavor - weak caramel / subtle toffee. The middle brings a subtle bitterness. The finish has a subtle sour undertone. Get Founder’s Dirty Bastard instead.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass.
Aroma- Has a very sweet malt and vanilla aroma.
Appearance- This beer is a light brown color with a small tan colored head.
Taste- Has a mellow malt flavor with a mix of vanilla, i did not care for the aftertaste.
Palate- A heavy bodied beer with mild carbonation and an oily texture.
Overall- I have not jumped on the "Scotch Ale" bandwagon yet. I have tried several and none of them have blown me away yet. I will try this beer again once I have sampled more of this style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a medium caramel brown with a pillowy off white head and has notes of sweet toasted malts, caramel and a light herbal hop. It has a lightly malty sweet carmel taste with a small dark fruit presence at first, then a decent bitterness slips in to balances it out...

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
French Broad Wee-Heavy-Er Scotch Style Ale has a thin, beige head, a red-brown, somewhat bubbly appearance, some ascending bubbles, and minor lacing left behind. The aroma is of an odd sweet-sour, some peat, a touch of smoke, caramel candy, and brown bread crust. Taste is of the same strange sweet & sour sauce, moderate bitterness, lemon, lime, and bread. Mouthfeel is on the light side, and French Broad Wee-Heavy-Er finishes mostly dry and not unlike Bud Light Lime, in some respects. RJT
